00:00:00.031 --> 00:00:28.280
Right, hello, thank you. Welcome back to The Way UK. My name is Solom and I'm joined today by my co-host. Michelle. It's Michelle. What's up? There she is. We've got a few questions to answer that you've sent through when we posted. Thanks guys. Yeah, we've got a few of them here. We're going to just go through it. We haven't really seen them that much. We're just going to kind of answer, aren't we? What? Yeah, we are. Off the dome. Off the dome.

2
00:00:32.009 --> 00:01:01.642
We've got some gnarly questions. Question one, opening question. Are you ready? Ta-da! Are you ready? Yeah. That's good. All right, what's really challenged you with your walk with God? Probably having friends that I've studied, like, theology and stuff, like this guy over here. Because they have, like, I don't know, you're just big brain. You've got lots of thoughts, lots of different things, and it challenges the way that I think about Scripture and God in a really good way.

3
00:01:01.642 --> 00:01:16.947
Yeah, but sometimes it is definitely a mind boggle. That's for sure. Sorry. Sorry. You're forgiven. Yay. And you? For me? Studying theology. It seems to be a running trend here. So theology. I don't know. It made me...

4
00:01:17.116 --> 00:01:36.978
I had to confront things, truths that, well, things that I thought were true or that I, I seem to have just smuggled in as how I understood my faith and God's, and then had to recognize that that's just not right. Right. I've been thinking. And then that's kind of daunting to realize how, how little you actually know.

5
00:01:36.978 --> 00:01:50.461
Yeah, it's so true. It's really scary. That's the badger. Scary. Yeah. I think also what's challenged me is probably like learning how to wrestle with certain things with God. Because it's so uncomfortable. Like...

6
00:01:51.558 --> 00:02:19.891
I don't know. Sometimes I think we can be sold this sort of easy Christianity. Like as soon as you follow God, all your problems are going to go away. That's just like the complete opposite. And you're actually having to confront the very things that you want to run, like you think would solve the problem when you came to God. But yeah, that's challenging. Very challenging. Question two.

7
00:02:20.482 --> 00:02:47.127
Thanks for sharing. Question two. So anyway. Question two. Let me ask you. I've got this one. You go. How do you know the difference between your voice and God's voice? It's a good question, that. If it's demeaning, condemning, hateful, shameful, anything of any of the above and more, it's probably not God's voice really, isn't it? God's got a character. Yeah. Yeah.

8
00:02:47.735 --> 00:02:59.412
How does he sound? Well, if you don't know, read scripture. You know? Seems to be a pretty good point of reference. That would probably be my advice. Yeah. What about you? I think...

9
00:03:00.965 --> 00:03:19.915
I mean, it's something that I still struggle with. Yeah, totally. I mean, it's like, it's challenging to know what's my voice and God's voice. And so I just like to ask the Holy Spirit, like help me discern what's which and which, like get rid of my own voice and my own head.

10
00:03:19.915 --> 00:03:31.087
Obviously, sometimes when you really want something, you're asking for it and you're wanting that desired answer from God. You don't get that. No, except you hear that, but it's actually just you.

11
00:03:32.116 --> 00:03:59.217
I don't know. I think often you do sense it in your heart. You do know what God's saying, but then you choose to sort of like, nah, surely not. That's not what I want to hear. But then I also think get other people involved in it too. Ask for other people's advice. Ask what they think. Definitely. Especially people who are older than you that have walked a bit longer with God. Yeah.

12
00:03:59.217 --> 00:04:24.125
Yeah, the more you grow in your faith, the longer you walk with God, you learn things about yourself and what God says about you, which then in turn then reduces the noise in your head and helps you hear a little bit clearer. It takes a bit of time. Definitely. Yeah. Give us this one. Next question. Yeah. What's a habit that's changed your life?

13
00:04:27.128 --> 00:04:52.762
Um, probably not allowing my emotions to dictate my faith. What, are you trying to say I'm too emotional? She got really Scottish. It just comes and goes. It does come and go. It just comes and goes. Steady on. Steady on. Come on, though. I'm quite emotional. I would say that...

14
00:04:53.487 --> 00:04:57.976
It can be really easy to allow for feeling low, which we do and we will.

15
00:04:59.697 --> 00:05:25.803
to control who we think God to be. That's so true. And how we think of ourselves. And I think a really good habit that I've gotten into is to realize that while emotions are incredible advisors, they are horrible behind the wheel. Yeah, it's true. It's way too turbulent, gets exhausting. So listen to them, but don't let them control you.

16
00:05:26.545 --> 00:05:48.820
especially in the context of faith. Also reading. I love reading. It's great. Next question. Is peace just a feeling or is it something more? It's a good question. What do you think? I couldn't tell you. Let's just dissect this. No, well, actually, I would love to hear what you have to say about this one because you had a really great answer.

17
00:05:49.715 --> 00:06:13.863
I think it's both. Peace is just a feeling, but also it's also a person. I believe that it's Jesus. Jesus is the Prince of Peace. And so, yeah, both and. But often peace can fade, and that's just a feeling. And the thing that's, I guess,

18
00:06:15.095 --> 00:06:38.990
can be more sustainable than just it being feeling is probably trusting in the characteristic and nature of Jesus and who he says he is and clinging on to that when the feeling like the feeling fades definitely but you can always ask for peace and he's so willing to give it but I do think it's feeling

19
00:06:38.990 --> 00:07:07.643
You could replace peace with security there, couldn't you? I think security isn't a feeling. Security is a way of life that becomes almost that rock that you can build on and security in Christ. You have to clarify, security in Christ, is what I'm saying, in your identity as a believer. Yeah, yeah. And who God says you are. And that does bring with it a lot of peace. Yeah. I would say.

20
00:07:07.745 --> 00:07:31.943
Christ is my foundation. Yes. Yeah. Michelle's on the worship team. Oh. Oh, actually, they've seen it. You'll be singing on the thing. Oh, yeah. Go check them out. Have you noticed that I'm never on them? Leave that there. I auditioned, they said, get out of here. Oh. Get out of here. Comment down below if you want Solomon. Yeah, put me on. In the little devotional sets. Put me on. Put me on.

21
00:07:32.618 --> 00:07:54.590
Put me on. I was looking at the guy that tells us if we're on. Tell our producer to put him on. Yeah, actually, everyone comment, Joel, put Solomon on the set. Let me do something. Let me hold a tambourine or something. Oh, yeah, a little triangle. It's also worth saying, if you don't feel peace...

22
00:07:55.265 --> 00:08:24.847
if it's something that seems to evade you, you're not a bad Christian. Yeah. You know what I mean? Mental health is a real struggle for a lot of people. It's way more common than we give it credit for. Yeah, and it can range from like, you can have literally just a chemical imbalance in your brain, but then you also got what is causing anxiety. Sometimes it can be like, you're maybe picking up on somebody else's feet, like somebody else might be feeling anxious and you're picking up on that and that whacks you out.

23
00:08:24.847 --> 00:08:41.317
I have experienced that many times before when, yeah. And also just like personally, like if something's going on in your own personal life and something's, but then also, I don't know. Sometimes it's just like I wake up and I'm anxious and I don't know why.

24
00:08:43.578 --> 00:09:08.688
Sometimes it can be spiritual. I don't know. I honestly don't know. I don't want to get all airy-fairy. It can be spiritual, but I also think it's worth demystifying at the same time, right? Yeah. It's actually not always spiritual. Sometimes you're just a bit tired. There it is. You're asleep. You haven't eaten. Yeah, exactly. Have a loaf of bread. Have a little bit of a snack and take a nap. Cereal. And you might be okay. But then I also don't want to reduce anxiety to just that, by the way. Oh, totally.

25
00:09:08.688 --> 00:09:37.207
But I just wanted to, we just wanted to acknowledge that. Let's just round it for a second. Yeah, it's okay. You're not a bad Christian if you don't feel peace all the time. Talk to people. Yeah. Go talk to somebody. Yeah. Talk to your pastor or your mum or your friend. Or your dad. Or your dad. Moving on. Shelley. Yeah. How do you stay on fire for reading the word even when you don't feel like it?

26
00:09:39.400 --> 00:10:00.140
It's like with anything. Like, I'm like currently training for something. I'm not going to say what it is. I'm training for something. We're at weirdo. We're at weirdo. I'm training for something and there's going to be days where I don't want to do it. Keep talking, keep talking.

27
00:10:00.865 --> 00:10:24.541
And the discipline comes in handy, doesn't it? Yeah, it's discipline. Listen, fire, fire for reading the word is not the goal. The goal is not to be constantly on fire because it's going to, you're going to be burning. You're going to burn out. That's going to hurt. But no, that's not the goal. Listen, it's cool to be passionate. The goal isn't to be passionate. It's discipline. Right. Regardless of emotion. Right. Right. That's what it is.

28
00:10:24.541 --> 00:10:49.820
I think the question might also be like, how can I stay hungry for more of God? And that comes with discipline, reading scripture. But also I think reading other books that can help inform your understanding of God. Yeah, definitely. Reading widely. Yeah, it's just like, how can I stay hungry? Go read some church fathers. They're sick. Church fathers. Church fathers.

29
00:10:51.254 --> 00:11:14.288
is that our answer how do i stay on fire church fathers and mothers and mothers all right shelly right yeah right yeah you ready for the next question yes okay lock in you're right then sick how do you deal with prophecies you have heard online right on the line being the internet on the interweb do you believe them

30
00:11:15.301 --> 00:11:37.492
right personally no and i would say be cautious of believing in them for yourself um because these people don't know you and they don't have like a relationship with you and personally i would i would be more inclined to receive somebody's prophecy um

31
00:11:38.740 --> 00:11:54.316
if they knew me and if I trusted them, but then I would also take that to scripture and take it to God. But if it's just a random geezer telling me that I might meet my husband, like tomorrow or at church on Sunday, like,

32
00:11:56.341 --> 00:12:16.507
I just don't know. You just got to be careful with stuff like that. Cause you don't know what somebody's motive is behind that. And it's quite dangerous. So I would just say be cautious. Yeah. Be cautious. Yeah. Be cautious. And if you have really big concerns and questions and like, you feel really confused.

33
00:12:18.093 --> 00:12:45.312
Your answer's probably there with the confusion. Yeah. But take it to people that you trust, like a pastor, a leader, a family member that also loves God and ask them what they think. And I'm sure they'll give you some sound advice. I think that's a great answer. This is what I say. Okay, this is when it comes to prophecies, because I think we should be taking them seriously, right? Yeah, totally. And we should have reverence for them. Yeah, I would say when it comes to prophecy...

34
00:12:46.983 --> 00:13:13.510
be critical. Like don't just take it all on board. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's it. That's it. No. Yeah. Use wisdom as well. Yeah. Be wise. Yeah. Be smart. Yeah. And ask for discernment within stuff like that, because it can all get a bit too much. And especially when it's like some stuff that you want in your life, then that's when it can get more dangerous because you're like more inclined to believe in it. Good answer.

35
00:13:16.514 --> 00:13:36.494
Next question is, what to do when you feel shame because of sin? It's a good question, that. Shame. The great pacifier, that's what I say. Real nightmare, that guy. I'd say shame spends all its time talking about you and talking down to you.

36
00:13:36.983 --> 00:14:06.143
It wants to keep you quiet and keep you wrapped up in itself. I think that is its great poison. The best thing to do when we feel shame because of sin is to actually go and, first of all, talk to God, talk to a pastor, bring someone else into it, confess. I think that's crucial. Shame must keep you isolated and alienated. It really does. So what's the remedy? Go find community and wisdom. We want to build you up.

37
00:14:06.211 --> 00:14:21.247
and also try to renew your mind i think often shame yes can just be eating away at you even though god said i've forgiven you and you just feel so stuck and you can't move on

38
00:14:21.247 --> 00:14:50.153
But actually God says, forget the past, look ahead. And, you know, he's so kind and he will help you sort of work through that. But don't eat yourself up like God has forgiven you. And shame is a real thing, but also you don't have to walk in it forever. God doesn't want that for you. And so like what someone said, bring other people in with you.

39
00:14:50.153 --> 00:15:20.090
but also just like try renew your mind with what scripture says god says so many wonderful things about you i mean psalm 139 says that he has so many things like how many what the grains of sand those like that's how many wonderful things he has to say about you you can ask god like what's something that you love about me um what's the truth that you speak over me and

40
00:15:21.710 --> 00:15:50.212
Next question. How do you present the gospel to someone? Good question. I think we can sometimes get so excited to share the gospel that we just run up to someone and just start throwing it at them. I don't think that's... Maybe that works for some people, you know. It probably has. Yeah. But I've always found the best way to approach someone with the gospel is to live it out. And if we place the gospel as the very core of who we are, it flows out of us anywhere. It's true. Yeah.

41
00:15:50.212 --> 00:16:19.000
It's true. Naturally. Yeah. I mean, it literally just reminds me of a time a couple of weeks ago, actually. I was just like walking out my gaff and one of my neighbours was like, oh, what are you up to? And I was like, oh, I'm going to church. And he's like, he was so shocked. He's like, going to church? I was like, yeah. And that's where the conversation just started there. And I got to share Jesus with them. Yes. Is that all? I think that's all of them. That's all our questions. That's all the ones we've been given.

42
00:16:19.051 --> 00:16:37.428
Yay. Thanks. There's not a single question left. And that's the end of the episode. Guys, thank you so much for coming. Yeah. We love these questions. Thank you for being a part of this. And we pray you have a great week and we'll see you next time. Bye. See you later.
