I mean, everybody saved or unsaved has their hopes if you stop them on the street. What are you hoping? 11 00:01:37.000 --> 00:01:45.000 Well, I'm hoping for world peace. I'm hoping that I'm a billionaire. I'm hoping that I'll live happily ever after. I mean, everybody's got their hopes. 12 00:01:45.000 --> 00:01:58.000 And hope, the thing with hope is great, but it's always in the future. Faith says I have it now. Faith is you agreeing with God's word and what it says about you, and you're saying I have it now. 13 00:01:59.000 --> 00:02:11.000 And our tendency is to kind of go down the path of least resistance because there is a bit of a battle with faith. In fact, any battle you have, it should be in the arena of faith, not outside of it. 14 00:02:11.000 --> 00:02:21.000 So we can get a little axidazical and just kind of coast and just hope. But you show me what you're saying. I'll show you what you're believing. 15 00:02:22.000 --> 00:02:28.000 What you're saying and how you're speaking about yourself and your life is going to reveal what you're actually believing. 16 00:02:28.000 --> 00:02:42.000 And I've felt now for several months, if you've noticed the pattern and what's been being preached from the pulpit, other than a few interruptions for several months, I feel like the Lord has put in my hand this hot poker. 17 00:02:42.000 --> 00:02:53.000 And I just got to come and stir up the embers a little bit and I can only perceive in the spirit that this is God wanting to get something to you and you need to align yourself with that. 18 00:02:53.000 --> 00:03:04.000 And the way he's going to get something to you, the way you're going to receive is the way you've received anything you've ever received from God. And that's by faith. Hallelujah. 19 00:03:05.000 --> 00:03:23.000 So let's begin this journey in Hebrews chapter 4 and verse 14. This is a cryptic slash mysterious slash obscure verse because it shows us Jesus post resurrection in heaven. 20 00:03:23.000 --> 00:03:32.000 Now let me just pause here and ask you when you think of Jesus in heaven, how do you envision him? I found at least with me, I don't know about you. 21 00:03:32.000 --> 00:03:44.000 I get a lot of my doctrine or I got a lot of my doctrine, a lot of my imaginings about Jesus from like Christian art and not even good Christian art. 22 00:03:45.000 --> 00:03:56.000 Like what the poster at the Christian bookstore shows me or a hallmark card, like when you imagine Jesus in heaven, what does he look like? 23 00:03:56.000 --> 00:04:09.000 Is it the Jesus that has a lamb around his shoulders who's walking through a meadow of flowers? Kind of distant stoic, a loof? Is it? It was for me. I always wondered what's he up to up there? 24 00:04:10.000 --> 00:04:19.000 That picture with Jesus walking, you all know the picture, right? Was that supposed to be him when he was on earth or is it him in heaven? 25 00:04:19.000 --> 00:04:33.000 Is a little bit of both, it's how you like? Religious pictures of Jesus, they show him in heaven, but if you look at his face, it's not like he's quite realized the victory yet. 26 00:04:33.000 --> 00:04:42.000 There's still some battle waiting to be fought. It's got a mysterious face. It's not the conqueror, the victorious one. 27 00:04:42.000 --> 00:04:53.000 Anyway, a good question to ask is what is he doing? What's his function? What is the resurrected risen Lord doing in heaven? 28 00:04:53.000 --> 00:05:02.000 Hebrews 4, 14 gives us a glimpse, seeing them that we have a great high priest. 29 00:05:02.000 --> 00:05:14.000 He is in heaven operating as our high priest. Now, to understand what that means, you need to just peek into the Old Testament a little bit and realize that there was this figure called the high priest. 30 00:05:15.000 --> 00:05:22.000 His job was to represent the people of God, the nation of God, to God. 31 00:05:22.000 --> 00:05:30.000 Also in Hebrews, for example, it says, the fruit of our lips giving praise unto his name. 32 00:05:30.000 --> 00:05:36.000 If the nation would praise God, the high priest would transfer those praises over to God. 33 00:05:36.000 --> 00:05:56.000 If you ever look at good art, even Judeaic art, of the high priest is usually pictured holding his hands up, both hands up, symbolic of him taking the sins of the people, transferring them to the Lamb, and then presenting that to God, or the praises of the people presenting that to God. 34 00:05:56.000 --> 00:06:10.000 Jesus is functioning as your high priest. When you sing worship songs, the fruit of your lips, note that when the Bible says the fruit of your lips, that doesn't mean you're singing quietly inward. 35 00:06:10.000 --> 00:06:19.000 Fruitful lips actually means you're making a sound. And he brings it to the Father. 36 00:06:19.000 --> 00:06:30.000 Look at that verse, seeing then that we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession, the words of our mouth. 37 00:06:30.000 --> 00:06:40.000 The Bible says that Jesus is our high priest in heaven, and one of his jobs is bringing your words to the Father. 38 00:06:40.000 --> 00:06:51.000 Causing your words to come to pass. This, by the way, is how you got saved. This is how you'll receive anything that you ever received from God. 39 00:06:51.000 --> 00:06:59.000 Look at one of the most famous verses in the New Testament, Romans 10, 9 through 10. 40 00:07:00.000 --> 00:07:11.000 That if you confess with your mouth, the Lord Jesus, this is how you receive salvation, this is how you receive forgiveness of sins, you have to what? Open up your mouth. 41 00:07:11.000 --> 00:07:22.000 That if you confess with your mouth, the Lord Jesus, that's half of it, and believe in your heart, that's the other half, that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 42 00:07:22.000 --> 00:07:39.000 So note this, that faith, this precious force called faith, this invisible hand that goes into the heavens and brings down to earth, that thing that you need, that thing that you've been believing for, faith is one half in your heart and one half in your mouth. 43 00:07:40.000 --> 00:07:55.000 And when it comes out of your mouth, Jesus, your high priest, takes your words and presents them to God the Father. Hallelujah. So why am I talking about this this morning? Because some of you are not giving the Lord anything to work with. 44 00:07:56.000 --> 00:08:08.000 If Jesus is my high priest and his role is to bring my words to God the Father, I want to be careful what I say out of my mouth, and I want to have a proper confession. 45 00:08:08.000 --> 00:08:20.000 What's a proper confession? I always used to have a negative association with the word confession, because that grew up on, I guess, in the Cold War and 80s movies. 46 00:08:20.000 --> 00:08:30.000 And there was always this scene of some like KGB interrogation center with one light bulb handing, hanging from the ceiling, and the person slamming the desk, you know, confess. 47 00:08:30.000 --> 00:08:39.000 But confession means to agree with. To confess in this case means you're agreeing with the word of God. 48 00:08:39.000 --> 00:08:45.000 Just a little bit ago, I said some of you are not giving the Lord anything to work with. How do I know this? 49 00:08:45.000 --> 00:08:50.000 I know this because even sometimes in worship, don't get nervous, but I peek. I peek. 50 00:08:50.000 --> 00:09:04.000 But I just got to say some of you, like we say such amazing songs, Sean didn't even know what I was going to preach, and the song, have you noticed that, Sean, was perfect, because you confessing what the Bible says about you. 51 00:09:04.000 --> 00:09:14.000 We say, I am blessed, I am called, I am healed, I am whole, and I peek, and some of you have a face like that's the first positive thing you've said about yourself all week. 52 00:09:15.000 --> 00:09:34.000 It's like, I am blessed, but you spent the whole week saying things like, you know, I'm just always so tired, and life is so hard, and things just don't really work out for me, and your high priest in heaven is going, you're not giving me anything to work with here. 53 00:09:34.000 --> 00:09:43.000 You want them to take those words and present them to God the Father, they'll fall flat right at the throne. 54 00:09:43.000 --> 00:09:55.000 Oh hallelujah, proverb six two, this is why loose lips sink ships. 55 00:09:55.000 --> 00:10:04.000 I am really, I'm fulfilling what I saw in the spirit, a hot poker, because this is great. I love, I love our church. 56 00:10:04.000 --> 00:10:11.000 I love where we are geographically. I love that there's always new people. I love that we're in a burrow that has 161 nations. 57 00:10:11.000 --> 00:10:24.000 You get such a cross pollinating, splattering of every ideology, every culture, every thought, and some of you are hearing this for the first time, and it's going to change your life. 58 00:10:24.000 --> 00:10:30.000 This is a biblical truth, and it'll change your life and get you in the receiving mode. 59 00:10:30.000 --> 00:10:37.000 You don't even know it, but you've been deflecting the blessings of God, and you've been taken captive and ensnared by the words of your mouth. 60 00:10:37.000 --> 00:10:46.000 You were snared by the words of your mouth, you were taken, you're taken captive by the words of your mouth. 61 00:10:46.000 --> 00:11:06.000 So I want to give you five things, first Corinthians 12, 13, five things that you have as a result of being in Jesus, that you can say that will change your life. 62 00:11:06.000 --> 00:11:17.000 Here's one thing you need to know. This is a biblical truth. For by one spirit we were all baptized, it means immersed into one body. 63 00:11:17.000 --> 00:11:26.000 Whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and have all been made to drink into one spirit. 64 00:11:26.000 --> 00:11:41.000 So you are in Christ, amen? There's over 250 verses in the New Testament that use the phrase in Christ or in Him or with Christ. 65 00:11:41.000 --> 00:11:48.000 Pay attention to those verses, because they tell you what you have already. 66 00:11:48.000 --> 00:12:01.000 And in Christianity, one of the biggest problems is people don't know what they have. They don't know the benefits package, so they're ignorant. 67 00:12:01.000 --> 00:12:15.000 Imagine you get a job and everybody's gone. You show up to work. Where are they? Oh, they're on their three month vacation. Why didn't plan for that? I didn't know. Oh, you didn't read the benefits package. You didn't know. 68 00:12:15.000 --> 00:12:25.000 Listen, there's usually two reasons when you see a Christian struggling, why that's so. One, they're ignorant. 69 00:12:25.000 --> 00:12:34.000 There's got a big laugh in the first service. Now it's just like, did I? Is the energy off a little bit? Do you feel like you're being scolded or something? 70 00:12:34.000 --> 00:12:43.000 Just smile back at me. We're having a good time here. Listen, the Bible says, my people are cut off because of a lack of knowledge. 71 00:12:43.000 --> 00:12:50.000 In the King James, it says, my people are destroyed and the Hebrew means cut off because they don't know. 72 00:12:50.000 --> 00:12:56.000 See, if you don't know that you've been physically healed by Jesus' stripes, you're cut off from the benefit of healing. 73 00:12:56.000 --> 00:13:02.000 If you don't know that the cross also encompasses prosperity and abundance, you're cut off from that. 74 00:13:02.000 --> 00:13:14.000 If you don't know really that all of your sins have been forgiven past, present and future, you're cut off from the benefit of having a boldness and a confidence that can only come from knowing you have the righteousness of Jesus. 75 00:13:14.000 --> 00:13:19.000 It's been freely given to you. Amen. 76 00:13:19.000 --> 00:13:28.000 So it's either ignorance or two, they learned it, they know it, but they're not actively appropriating it by faith. 77 00:13:28.000 --> 00:13:37.000 They have a casual attitude and a simple mental ascent to the truths of God and you can't have that. You've got to seize the truth of God. 78 00:13:37.000 --> 00:13:42.000 You've got to know what the Bible says you already have and then just agree with the Bible. 79 00:13:42.000 --> 00:13:46.000 And I say just sometimes it's very difficult, I'll get into that. 80 00:13:46.000 --> 00:13:49.000 But that's why he said, hold fast to our confession. 81 00:13:49.000 --> 00:14:05.000 What he's encouraging the writer of Hebrews is even when you see everything going wrong around you, speak the word of God and speak the truth of God and what it says about you in your circumstances, not what your circumstances are lying to you about the circumstances. 82 00:14:05.000 --> 00:14:11.000 You are in Christ, there's another empowering verse, 1 John 4, 17. 83 00:14:11.000 --> 00:14:17.000 When I read this in my early 20s and got revelation of it, I've read it probably a dozen times beforehand. 84 00:14:17.000 --> 00:14:23.000 But you get revelation when the Lord breathes on it and it becomes real to you. 85 00:14:23.000 --> 00:14:26.000 Just look at the power that's been given to you. 86 00:14:26.000 --> 00:14:34.000 Love has been perfected among us in this that we may have boldness in the day of judgment. 87 00:14:35.000 --> 00:14:40.000 Imagine that. You know how many people name the name of Jesus and have zero boldness? 88 00:14:40.000 --> 00:14:53.000 You ask them to pray and immediately, even if they were praying alone, they barely whisper to God because deep down inside they're afraid. 89 00:14:53.000 --> 00:14:58.000 They're not the good godly fear, but they don't know that they have been made righteous. 90 00:14:58.000 --> 00:15:03.000 They still feel like God is angry with them. They're missing in. They can't even look up. 91 00:15:03.000 --> 00:15:09.000 It says that we may have boldness in the day of judgment. 92 00:15:09.000 --> 00:15:13.000 Unjudgment day, you know how I'm going to be? 93 00:15:13.000 --> 00:15:17.000 Why? Because I've lived such an exemplary life? No. 94 00:15:17.000 --> 00:15:23.000 Because Jesus lived such an exemplary life. And He's transferred His righteousness over to me. 95 00:15:23.000 --> 00:15:26.000 Now here, I didn't even get to the best part yet. 96 00:15:26.000 --> 00:15:34.000 Here's the best part. Because as He is so are we in this world. 97 00:15:34.000 --> 00:15:42.000 So how is He? I checked in via the Bible. He's doing great. 98 00:15:42.000 --> 00:15:48.000 He's victorious as He is so am I in this world? That's the truth. 99 00:15:48.000 --> 00:15:52.000 He is sinless as He is so are we in this world. 100 00:15:52.000 --> 00:15:58.000 He has unhindered intimacy with God the Father as He is so am I in this world? 101 00:15:58.000 --> 00:16:03.000 Hallelujah. So we're going to change a little bit of how we're talking. 102 00:16:03.000 --> 00:16:09.000 I'm going to get you in the receiving zone. Yeah. Hallelujah. 103 00:16:09.000 --> 00:16:16.000 I want to go over five things that we have as a result of being in Christ baptized in Jesus 104 00:16:16.000 --> 00:16:19.000 and lead you in some confessions. 105 00:16:19.000 --> 00:16:28.000 Number one, it's found in Psalms 84-11. 106 00:16:28.000 --> 00:16:34.000 Psalms 84-11. Great verse out of the Psalms. 107 00:16:35.000 --> 00:16:41.000 For the Lord God is the Son and shield. 108 00:16:41.000 --> 00:16:44.000 The Lord will give grace and glory. 109 00:16:44.000 --> 00:16:49.000 No good thing with He will hold. Are you getting excited yet? 110 00:16:49.000 --> 00:16:53.000 From those who walk up rightly, uh-oh. 111 00:16:53.000 --> 00:16:59.000 See, that should give you pause because the promise is conditional. 112 00:16:59.000 --> 00:17:04.000 And you'll find hundreds of promises in the Bible that are conditional. 113 00:17:04.000 --> 00:17:11.000 You'll have all this if you behave righteously, if you are righteous, if you walk up rightly. 114 00:17:11.000 --> 00:17:16.000 Now, that should scare you. Nobody should read it and go, yeah. 115 00:17:16.000 --> 00:17:20.000 Because that's me because I've been so good this last week. 116 00:17:20.000 --> 00:17:24.000 Right? That when it says, walk up rightly, you've got to pause and go, well, 117 00:17:25.000 --> 00:17:30.000 how uprightly is uprightly? Like, I mean, I'm a pretty good person. 118 00:17:30.000 --> 00:17:34.000 When I compare myself to the worst person I know, I'm pretty good. 119 00:17:34.000 --> 00:17:36.000 And that's typically what we do, right? 120 00:17:36.000 --> 00:17:39.000 We think God has this kind of like grading on a curve. 121 00:17:39.000 --> 00:17:44.000 Like, if you're better than Hitler, if you're better than the worst person, you know, you're okay. 122 00:17:44.000 --> 00:17:50.000 No, God demands His holiness demands perfection. 123 00:17:50.000 --> 00:17:59.000 So uprightly means sinless. It means perfect, which means that none of us qualify for this apart from Jesus, right? 124 00:17:59.000 --> 00:18:09.000 What we have in Christ is realized promises because Jesus has made us righteous. Hallelujah. 125 00:18:09.000 --> 00:18:13.000 Let's look at the confession. 126 00:18:13.000 --> 00:18:21.000 Jesus died on the cross, took away our sin, and freely gave us His righteousness, pronounced us sin-free, 127 00:18:21.000 --> 00:18:25.000 guilt-free, condemnation-free. So now, guess what? 128 00:18:25.000 --> 00:18:28.000 You qualify. Can you just say that? I qualify. 129 00:18:28.000 --> 00:18:33.000 I qualify. Is it just the prayer formula? 133 00:18:46.000 --> 00:18:51.000 That we just say Father in the name of Jesus, and then ready set go, we can begin because technically we started okay? 134 00:18:51.000 --> 00:18:59.000 No, when you say Father in the name of Jesus, what you're saying is Father, I'm coming to you, but I'm not coming alone. 135 00:18:59.000 --> 00:19:05.000 I'm coming to you in the name of Jesus, in what He has done, what He has accomplished for me. 136 00:19:05.000 --> 00:19:12.000 He's removed all of my sin, and He's given me His righteousness, His right standing. 137 00:19:12.000 --> 00:19:19.000 So now, when you read these conditional promises, whenever you read one of these promises, it's got a little voice. 138 00:19:19.000 --> 00:19:22.000 It's the enemy. He's going to whisper in your mind, you don't qualify. 139 00:19:22.000 --> 00:19:25.000 It was not just me. 140 00:19:25.000 --> 00:19:29.000 I mean, you shouldn't read that and think. 141 00:19:29.000 --> 00:19:34.000 You shouldn't read that and think that you measure up alone. 142 00:19:35.000 --> 00:19:41.000 Whenever I have something of God, I don't come to Him and give Him my resume of good works. 143 00:19:41.000 --> 00:19:45.000 Oh, God, you know, I'm different because I'm a pastor. 144 00:19:45.000 --> 00:19:55.000 I've suffered uniquely for you, Lord, and it was really hard in that basement all those years, Lord, with no windows and Lord, I sacrifice to kind of, you know, what I'm really trying to say is, 145 00:19:55.000 --> 00:20:01.000 you kind of owe me one, right? Because I've been on the front lines. He's not impressed. 146 00:20:01.000 --> 00:20:06.000 I'm no different. I need the blood. I need Jesus. 147 00:20:06.000 --> 00:20:12.000 And because of His blood, because of His forgiveness, you qualify. 148 00:20:12.000 --> 00:20:19.000 So let's confess. Let's agree with God's word. Amen. 149 00:20:19.000 --> 00:20:22.000 Say this out loud with me. I am immersed in Christ. 150 00:20:23.000 --> 00:20:33.000 His righteousness is now mine. God the Father now freely fulfills. 151 00:20:33.000 --> 00:20:46.000 Every promise, not because of what I've done, but what Jesus has done for me. 152 00:20:46.000 --> 00:20:54.000 Do you believe it? Shout to Jesus. 153 00:20:54.000 --> 00:21:01.000 Number two, Romans 517. I'm giving you five things that the Bible says you have. 154 00:21:01.000 --> 00:21:10.000 Look, this kind of preaching, it's criticized because it's empowering and it's biblical and Satan hates it and so it's criticized. 155 00:21:10.000 --> 00:21:17.000 Already I've spoken so many positive things from the Word of God over you. Some of you you're looking at me like, 156 00:21:17.000 --> 00:21:24.000 like, what's up my sleeve? 157 00:21:24.000 --> 00:21:30.000 You know, some people will call this kind of preaching like a motivational preaching. 158 00:21:30.000 --> 00:21:38.000 Oh, he's just like a positive feel good motivational preacher. Why? Because I'm speaking positively and empowering the people. 159 00:21:38.000 --> 00:21:43.000 I'm sorry, if you want, I can meet you in the back. I can condemn you, make you feel guilty. 160 00:21:43.000 --> 00:21:49.000 Is that proper pastoring? I can be miserable with you and tell you how the life is just awful, 161 00:21:49.000 --> 00:21:54.000 but one day in the sweet barn by you'll get into heaven and then you'll like me again and you'll feel right at home. 162 00:21:54.000 --> 00:21:59.000 People call this kind of preaching. There's actually, you know, they label it. 163 00:21:59.000 --> 00:22:06.000 Oh, that's that. Is that that name it and claim it stuff? Is that that blabbit and grab it? Faced? 164 00:22:06.000 --> 00:22:14.000 You can call it what you want to call it. I call it agreeing with the Word of God. If God says it's mine, then it's mine. 165 00:22:14.000 --> 00:22:26.000 And nobody's going to tell me otherwise. Not my circumstances, not my environment, not my friends. God's Word is true and let God be true and every man a liar. 166 00:22:26.000 --> 00:22:33.000 I'm not preaching to use some fear or some philosophy. I live this. I've lived this. There's people in the church. 167 00:22:33.000 --> 00:22:36.000 They're living it right now. 168 00:22:36.000 --> 00:22:43.000 Man, there's a line in the road. Some people it just seems their content to be live. 169 00:22:43.000 --> 00:22:51.000 You need a waking up by the spirit of God that you come alive right now. That mediocrity, that defeat, 170 00:22:51.000 --> 00:22:58.000 comes off of you right now in Jesus name. The devil's been whispering to you and just telling you it's going to be this way. 171 00:22:58.000 --> 00:23:05.000 It's just going to continue to be this way. Check yourself. Divorce that doubt and unbelief out of your life. 172 00:23:05.000 --> 00:23:12.000 Dare to believe again. Dare to believe. Smith Wigglesworth used that phrase dare to believe. 173 00:23:12.000 --> 00:23:21.000 I was wondered why when I was young and inexperienced, I wondered why he would say dare to believe because I was young and inexperienced. 174 00:23:21.000 --> 00:23:31.000 Then as I moved on into my 20s, I experienced some life and I experienced falling flat on my face and getting hurt and life's troubles. 175 00:23:31.000 --> 00:23:38.000 Then when it was time to believe God, there was a little voice that said, no, don't. You'll just end up disappointed. 176 00:23:39.000 --> 00:23:47.000 You'll just have these big dreams and then they'll, so might as well not, might just you know, occupy till he comes. 177 00:23:47.000 --> 00:23:56.000 Just wait for the trumpet blast and then I had to make a decision. No, no, no. So I fell. So I broke my nose. So I got muddy. 178 00:23:56.000 --> 00:24:04.000 That does not change God's word. Let God be true in every man a liar.
