It's just 53 00:05:59.540 --> 00:06:09.860 preserved perfectly is where the US troops had been, I want to say bed down for the winter, 54 00:06:09.860 --> 00:06:18.980 which is what you had to do in those days, but they had no beds. They were gathered together. We 55 00:06:18.980 --> 00:06:26.660 had, listen, our troops had no shoes. They were worn out. Because of that feet of the soldiers were 56 00:06:26.740 --> 00:06:33.940 being frozen, turning black. Many of them were amputated. We were losing in Valley Forge in the 57 00:06:33.940 --> 00:06:41.300 middle of winter with no war. We're just waiting for spring to come. And it is understood and it's recorded that it was the spirit of 67 00:07:47.940 --> 00:07:53.460 liberty that kept those alive who were alive. Washington encouraged the troops that their cause that they were fighting for 71 00:08:16.340 --> 00:08:24.580 and dying for was worthy that it was a noble cause to bring and to fight for liberty and for 72 00:08:24.580 --> 00:08:30.820 the birth of a nation. You think about that. If you don't have Christ in your life, 73 00:08:30.980 --> 00:08:38.180 what do you have worth living for? And there are those good people who know history. They understand 74 00:08:38.180 --> 00:08:44.020 this stuff really well. They understand that America is worth dying for. I would hope that a Canadian 75 00:08:44.020 --> 00:08:50.500 thinks and believes that Canada is worth dying for. I certainly know for effect that the Israelis 76 00:08:50.500 --> 00:08:56.340 know and believe that Israel's worth fighting for and dying for. But the remarkable thing is that 77 00:08:56.420 --> 00:09:01.300 Washington went around and one of the things that he said is what I'm quoting to you here now is 78 00:09:01.300 --> 00:09:08.740 he told the soldiers fear God and trust in the Lord. Our cause is great. And so he kept drilling 79 00:09:08.740 --> 00:09:13.620 that into their hearts into their minds. And so I want to encourage you that you're talking 80 00:09:13.620 --> 00:09:19.860 we're talking about a group of fighters soldiers, citizenship soldiers mind you. This is not a 81 00:09:19.860 --> 00:09:28.660 standing army. These are farmers. If you read about our American history and the American continental 82 00:09:28.660 --> 00:09:34.100 army, you know that they were farmers and did you know that they would they would come and fight 83 00:09:34.100 --> 00:09:38.900 for a few months and then go back to their home and harvest the fields and plant seed and then 84 00:09:38.900 --> 00:09:44.420 leave and go back to the battle. And Washington had the juggle. He was he was he and his 85 00:09:44.980 --> 00:09:50.900 brigadier generals were the full-time guys. The other guys fighting the battles were citizen 86 00:09:50.900 --> 00:09:59.700 soldiers, minute men. And so they weren't even professionals or like the British called their own 87 00:09:59.700 --> 00:10:08.580 regulars. The British had literal full-time paid warriors. Well, we had nothing but farmers 88 00:10:09.540 --> 00:10:15.220 and but the amazing thing is is that those farmers those farmers had to hunt for their food. 89 00:10:15.220 --> 00:10:24.020 They shot rabbit. But it really it does speak regarding almost all of our battles. 91 00:10:30.420 --> 00:10:36.740 The ages of our soldiers were somewhere between 20 and 60. That was the bulk. And yet it was observed by the British command that these kids 94 00:10:56.180 --> 00:11:02.900 were better marksmen than his regulars. And the answer for that was because the American citizen 95 00:11:02.900 --> 00:11:08.900 had to hunt for his food. He had to use his gun daily to sustain and to provide meat for his 96 00:11:08.900 --> 00:11:17.860 family, thus with a very, very difficult instrument to use. That is the Flintlock or Pan-Fired 97 00:11:20.020 --> 00:11:27.860 musket. A huge long barrel rifle. I say rifle. In fact, the Liberty Bell that is now on 110 00:13:03.620 --> 00:13:13.460 display in Philadelphia at the Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell was taken down from the hall 111 00:13:13.460 --> 00:13:18.660 and it was carted away almost a hundred miles, 80 miles away, I believe it is, to Alentown, 112 00:13:18.660 --> 00:13:24.580 Pennsylvania to hide the Liberty Bell. Isn't that awesome? And they held it, they held it, 113 00:13:25.540 --> 00:13:34.260 hit it in the basement of the first Zion Church in Alentown, Pennsylvania. They look, think about 114 00:13:34.260 --> 00:13:39.620 that. Who's going to go through the effort to save a big bronze bell? Well, it's not that it's a 115 00:13:39.620 --> 00:13:46.980 bell. You know what was written on the bell? Lebedicus 25 verse 10, proclaim Liberty throughout 116 00:13:46.980 --> 00:13:56.020 all of the land unto all the inhabitants thereof.
