90 00:06:14.040 --> 00:06:19.040 It's him that he is to lead us, and we are to pursue him. 91 00:06:19.040 --> 00:06:22.040 Psalm 138, verse 2, 92 00:06:22.040 --> 00:06:26.040 For you have magnified your word above all your name. 93 00:06:26.040 --> 00:06:28.040 That's what God says about His word. 94 00:06:28.040 --> 00:06:30.040 Listen, that's a big deal, His word. 95 00:06:30.040 --> 00:06:34.040 God says, I revere my word above all. 96 00:06:34.040 --> 00:06:38.040 And the reason why I'm a Christian is because God's word is true. 97 00:06:38.040 --> 00:06:43.040 Church, listen, do you struggle, do you struggle with doubt, or with fear, 98 00:06:43.040 --> 00:06:48.040 or do you really sometimes wonder, man, it's God really going to let me into heaven. 99 00:06:48.040 --> 00:06:50.040 I don't deserve it. 100 00:06:50.040 --> 00:06:53.040 Whatever your thoughts might be, you need to understand something. 101 00:06:53.040 --> 00:06:57.040 That if you've turned to Christ and trusted Him as Lord and Savior, 102 00:06:57.040 --> 00:07:01.040 that has affected your life, and He has saved you. 103 00:07:01.040 --> 00:07:04.040 He has put His Holy Spirit in your life, and how do you know? 136 00:08:43.040 --> 00:08:44.040 You know what? 137 00:08:44.040 --> 00:08:47.040 I would rather trust the Word of God and the power of God's Word 138 00:08:47.040 --> 00:08:49.040 than what some man is telling me about. 139 00:08:49.040 --> 00:08:54.040 Especially, the Bible says that God is imprinted upon every human being, 140 00:08:54.040 --> 00:08:56.040 his eternal Godhead and power. 141 00:08:56.040 --> 00:08:59.040 If you want to read that more, it's Romans 1. 142 00:08:59.040 --> 00:09:02.040 Self-claims of the Bible. 143 00:09:02.040 --> 00:09:05.040 For example, 2 Timothy 316. 144 00:09:05.040 --> 00:09:07.040 This is what the Bible says about itself. 145 00:09:07.040 --> 00:09:11.040 All scriptures given by inspiration of God. 146 00:09:11.040 --> 00:09:12.040 Boom! 147 00:09:12.040 --> 00:09:18.040 And is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction and righteousness. 148 00:09:18.040 --> 00:09:19.040 What does that mean? 149 00:09:19.040 --> 00:09:21.040 The Bible is the authoritative Word of God. 150 00:09:21.040 --> 00:09:27.040 And if you read it and apply it to your life, your life is going to be radically different. 151 00:09:27.040 --> 00:09:28.040 And he's faithful. 152 00:09:28.040 --> 00:09:29.040 So I don't believe it. 153 00:09:29.040 --> 00:09:33.040 Why don't you give him a chance? 154 00:09:33.040 --> 00:09:37.040 Why don't you give him a chance? 155 00:09:37.040 --> 00:09:40.040 I preached the gospel in Moscow, Russia. 156 00:09:40.040 --> 00:09:43.040 And an evolutionary biologist came up to me. 157 00:09:43.040 --> 00:09:46.040 I was preaching outside in Red Square. 158 00:09:46.040 --> 00:09:50.040 This was 1993. 159 00:09:50.040 --> 00:09:56.040 And a Soviet Russian scientist came up and said, 160 00:09:56.040 --> 00:09:58.040 I'm an evolutionary biologist. 161 00:09:58.040 --> 00:10:01.040 And I've been raised and taught that there is no God. 162 00:10:01.040 --> 00:10:06.040 Everything that you said, I don't understand a word you said. 163 00:10:06.040 --> 00:10:08.040 I've never heard this before. 164 00:10:08.040 --> 00:10:11.040 But something inside striking my heart. 165 00:10:11.040 --> 00:10:17.040 And this is, I tell you what, this is awesome being a Christian. 166 00:10:17.040 --> 00:10:24.040 I told him, when you go home tonight, we talked about the gospel and then I said, 167 00:10:24.040 --> 00:10:36.040 when you go home tonight, you get into your flat and you ask God if this conversation today that you and I have, 168 00:10:36.040 --> 00:10:39.040 you ask God if it's true. 169 00:10:39.040 --> 00:10:42.040 And he said, what if I don't believe in God? 170 00:10:42.040 --> 00:10:46.040 And I said, I don't even care about that. 171 00:10:46.040 --> 00:10:48.040 Just go and ask him. 172 00:10:48.040 --> 00:10:51.040 Now, there's a little bit of a trick to that. 173 00:10:51.040 --> 00:10:57.040 If he goes home and tells himself, I don't believe in God. 174 00:10:57.040 --> 00:11:00.040 Hello, God, I don't believe in you. 175 00:11:00.040 --> 00:11:02.040 You see what I'm saying? 176 00:11:02.040 --> 00:11:06.040 God moves on the heart and he's moving on your heart. 177 00:11:06.040 --> 00:11:09.040 And he's moved on our hearts. 178 00:11:09.040 --> 00:11:12.040 Self claims to the Bible. 179 00:11:12.040 --> 00:11:18.040 Proverbs 30 verse 5 says, every word of God is pure. 180 00:11:18.040 --> 00:11:26.040 Psalm 19 verse 7, the law of the Lord is perfect converting the soul. 181 00:11:26.040 --> 00:11:29.040 It's liberating, transforms you. 182 00:11:29.040 --> 00:11:34.040 The Bible's effectiveness in our lives is absolutely awesome. 183 00:11:34.040 --> 00:11:36.040 Think about the declarations of the Bible. 184 00:11:36.040 --> 00:11:38.040 We'll run through these declarations. 185 00:11:38.040 --> 00:11:46.040 And you do understand we're scratching the surface of this infinite truth of who he is. 186 00:11:46.040 --> 00:11:49.040 Declarations of the Bible. 187 00:11:49.040 --> 00:11:51.040 John 17, 17 for one. 188 00:11:51.040 --> 00:11:54.040 Jesus has sanctified them by your truth. 189 00:11:54.040 --> 00:11:55.040 Your word is truth. 190 00:11:55.040 --> 00:11:57.040 That was the prayer of Jesus. 191 00:11:57.040 --> 00:12:02.040 Jesus is praying to his father, speaking about the flock that was in front of him. 192 00:12:02.040 --> 00:12:08.040 And every one of you here tonight who are Christians, Jesus prayed, Father, sanctified them. 193 00:12:08.040 --> 00:12:11.040 Did you know that's Jesus's desire for you? 194 00:12:11.040 --> 00:12:15.040 That your life would be set aside for him? 195 00:12:15.040 --> 00:12:18.040 That's an awesome declaration. 196 00:12:18.040 --> 00:12:21.040 What about Psalm 17 verse 8? 197 00:12:21.040 --> 00:12:23.040 Keep me as the apple of your eye. 198 00:12:23.040 --> 00:12:25.040 Hide me under the shadow of your wings. 199 00:12:25.040 --> 00:12:27.040 Is that beautiful? 200 00:12:27.040 --> 00:12:28.040 Think about that for a moment. 201 00:12:28.040 --> 00:12:31.040 You want the apple of your eyes? 202 00:12:31.040 --> 00:12:36.040 The psalmist is saying, I want my relationship to be with you. 203 00:12:36.040 --> 00:12:44.040 So sensitive, so tender, that it's as tender as taking a stick and poking the cornea. 204 00:12:44.040 --> 00:12:47.040 It's the cornea of your eye. 205 00:12:47.040 --> 00:12:50.040 Okay, that's pretty sensitive. 206 00:12:50.040 --> 00:12:53.040 The apple of your eye, that's what that means. 207 00:12:53.040 --> 00:12:59.040 And then how beautiful to speak, to communicate to us in comforting terms, 208 00:12:59.040 --> 00:13:07.040 that God's desire is to cover you, to protect you as it were, under the shadow of his wings. 209 00:13:07.040 --> 00:13:18.040 Little birds that are harmless and helpless will take refuge under the wings of the mother hen or the eagle. 210 00:13:18.040 --> 00:13:21.040 God says, I don't like that with you. 211 00:13:21.040 --> 00:13:26.040 The God of the Bible does that. That's why I'm a Christian. 212 00:13:26.040 --> 00:13:35.040 I don't mean to sound disrespectful, but there's no better show in town, ladies and gentlemen. 213 00:13:35.040 --> 00:13:39.040 So while you're Christian and by default, that's the best show in town. 214 00:13:39.040 --> 00:13:41.040 That's the only show. 215 00:13:41.040 --> 00:13:44.040 Oh, is that why you believe because there's nothing else? 216 00:13:44.040 --> 00:13:46.040 No. 217 00:13:46.040 --> 00:13:50.040 It's because he's the only one that's true. 218 00:13:50.040 --> 00:13:54.040 He's the only truth there is. 219 00:13:54.040 --> 00:14:02.040 And he says in Isaiah 26-3, oh, you're going to go around and write, this is a window right down. 220 00:14:02.040 --> 00:14:14.040 God says to you tonight, you will keep him, God will keep him, keep you, keep her in perfect peace, 221 00:14:14.040 --> 00:14:17.040 whose mind is stayed on you, anchored. 222 00:14:17.040 --> 00:14:22.040 Is your mind fixed on God? Is your life tormented? Are you tormented? 223 00:14:22.040 --> 00:14:29.040 Is something going on and you're just disheveled of spirit, your soul is cast down. God says, I... 224 00:14:29.040 --> 00:14:42.040 Listen, I will give you peace. I'm going to bless you because your mind is stayed. The word is anchored to me. 225 00:14:42.040 --> 00:14:51.040 Some of you may be going through horrific things of life and you don't even know to go left or right, stand up, sit down, you don't know what. 226 00:14:51.040 --> 00:14:59.040 You lost all bearings. Have you ever been hit so hard spiritually like that in the stomach where you lose the wind? 227 00:14:59.040 --> 00:15:06.040 Get the wind knocked out of you? And you're just like, you know what? I don't know what's up, I don't know what's down. 228 00:15:06.040 --> 00:15:14.040 God help me. You know the moment you cry out to him, Christian, in your situation? 229 00:15:14.040 --> 00:15:26.040 That pain and that grief, you're actually having your heart anchored to him when you do that. 230 00:15:26.040 --> 00:15:31.040 That's why in your Christian life when something happens, you run toward him. You don't run from him. 231 00:15:31.040 --> 00:15:39.040 Sometimes a Christian will run from him. That's called a backslidden Christian. They run. They don't get very far. 232 00:15:39.040 --> 00:15:49.040 A child that belongs to God, if they panic and run, he'll only let them go so far. 233 00:15:49.040 --> 00:16:00.040 But he says, whose mind is stayed on you because he trust in you. Trust God. 234 00:16:00.040 --> 00:16:08.040 The declarations of God, I love this one. This sounds so new testament, but it's not. Ezekiel 36, 26. 235 00:16:08.040 --> 00:16:19.040 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you. I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 236 00:16:19.040 --> 00:16:30.040 You know he spoke there to the Jews and that's not yet fulfilled, it's coming. Oh that's going to happen by the way. Ezekiel 36, 26, will be ultimately fulfilled in the tribulation period. 237 00:16:30.040 --> 00:16:41.040 It's given to the Jew and you say, oh I like that verse. I was just going to memorize it, but it's a Jew verse. No, it's a Gentile verse two. I had somebody really get upset one time because I, hey, best I heard your favorite verse is Jeremiah 29, 11. 239 00:16:53.040 --> 00:17:07.040 That's right. He goes, you can't, you can't lean on that verse. It's not available to you. You're not a Jew. Yeah, that's what the guy said. I said, whoa, it's a word for 40 years. It's been doing pretty good in my life so far. 240 00:17:07.040 --> 00:17:21.040 I said, but the truth of the matter is friend and he had some messed up theology. I'll tell you that. But God says in Chronicles, out bless any nation that repents of its sin and comes to me. 241 00:17:21.040 --> 00:17:31.040 Isn't the world need to hear that verse today? Isn't that wonderful? Wow. And then number four will end with this. We'll be done with it here. 242 00:17:31.040 --> 00:17:50.040 Why does Christianity claim to be right? Because you must consider one of the most unique things of the Bible is that it's known as its eschatological assertions, big words, eschatological assertions. So what does this mean? 243 00:17:50.040 --> 00:18:09.040 Only the Bible out of all the books of the world have had the audacity and the Hutzba to be somewhere in the area of 33% prophetic about the future of the Bible. 244 00:18:09.040 --> 00:18:28.040 The Bible is prophetic in nature, futuristic, that is. Matthew chapter 5 verse 17 to 18, Jesus said, do not think that I've come to destroy the law and the prophets. By the way, everything in the law and the prophets, Jesus right here just said, I agree. 245 00:18:28.040 --> 00:18:45.040 Any red letter, any red letter Bible Christians here that I only read the red letters of Jesus. You know the people, there's people like that. They're called red letter Christians. Have you heard them? They only read the red letters of the gospels because they don't like what the rest of the Bible says. 246 00:18:45.040 --> 00:18:57.040 Well, guess what Jesus said in those red letters? Right here. Jesus is saying, I'm for the whole book from start to finish. 247 00:18:57.040 --> 00:19:04.040 God speaks the future.
