13 00:01:02.400 --> 00:01:09.400 Technically, in this day and age, if somebody can tweet a tweet and change the course of a nation, 14 00:01:09.400 --> 00:01:15.400 how about you and I teaming up together and you simply sharing this with other people? 15 00:01:15.400 --> 00:01:21.400 If it matters to you, if it makes a difference, if it's something that you think your friend or your family member 16 00:01:21.400 --> 00:01:26.400 or your co-worker could benefit from, then please do that. 17 00:01:26.400 --> 00:01:31.400 And then also this, I want to make sure that we kind of just have a routine down. 18 00:01:31.400 --> 00:01:35.400 And we're going about right now to just set up a little bit of a routine. 19 00:01:35.400 --> 00:01:43.400 And I was asked, hey, we need like a tagline for our continued moving forward in ministry. 20 00:01:43.400 --> 00:01:45.400 And so I thought about this last night. 21 00:01:45.400 --> 00:01:48.400 I don't know if it works or not, maybe you guys can judge and let us know. 22 00:01:49.400 --> 00:01:51.400 But to me, this makes sense. 23 00:01:51.400 --> 00:01:52.400 Does it not? 24 00:01:52.400 --> 00:01:55.400 It's time to live out what you believe in. 25 00:01:55.400 --> 00:01:57.400 It's time for real life. 26 00:01:57.400 --> 00:01:59.400 I think that matters. 27 00:01:59.400 --> 00:02:04.400 It's time to live out what you believe in. 28 00:02:04.400 --> 00:02:06.400 It's time for real life. 29 00:02:06.400 --> 00:02:08.400 And so this is what's on my heart right now. 30 00:02:08.400 --> 00:02:10.400 This is what's burning. 31 00:02:10.400 --> 00:02:14.400 Because it's something that burned upon Jeremiah's heart. 32 00:02:14.400 --> 00:02:18.400 It's something that burned upon the heart of God and still does to this moment. 33 00:02:18.400 --> 00:02:21.400 And believe it or not, I am not reading from the New Testament. 34 00:02:21.400 --> 00:02:22.400 I am not. 35 00:02:22.400 --> 00:02:25.400 I underscore, I am not reading from the New Testament. 36 00:02:25.400 --> 00:02:27.400 This is Old Testament. 37 00:02:27.400 --> 00:02:29.400 This is Old Testament. 38 00:02:29.400 --> 00:02:32.400 Okay, you wouldn't even have a New Testament without the Old Testament. 39 00:02:32.400 --> 00:02:39.400 God said, behold, the days are coming says the Lord when I will make a new covenant 40 00:02:40.400 --> 00:02:44.400 with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. 41 00:02:44.400 --> 00:02:51.400 Not, listen, not according to the commandment that I made with their fathers in that day. 42 00:02:51.400 --> 00:02:59.400 When I took them by the hand and led them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant which they broke, 43 00:02:59.400 --> 00:03:08.400 though I was a husband to them, says the Lord, but this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel 44 00:03:08.400 --> 00:03:10.400 after those days. 45 00:03:10.400 --> 00:03:11.400 Listen up, everybody. 46 00:03:11.400 --> 00:03:12.400 This is amazing. 47 00:03:12.400 --> 00:03:20.400 Says the Lord, I will put my law in their minds and I will write them on, and I will write on their hearts. 48 00:03:20.400 --> 00:03:23.400 And I will be their God and they shall be my people. 49 00:03:23.400 --> 00:03:29.400 No longer shall every man teach his neighbor, every man shall, his, and his brother, saying, 50 00:03:29.400 --> 00:03:33.400 no the Lord, for they all shall know me. 51 00:03:33.400 --> 00:03:40.400 From the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord, I will forgive their iniquity and their sins. 52 00:03:40.400 --> 00:03:42.400 I will remember no more. 53 00:03:42.400 --> 00:03:43.400 This is amazing. 54 00:03:43.400 --> 00:03:52.400 Listen, so many people are bound up in legalism and keeping the rules that they forget that God gave the law in the Old Testament 55 00:03:52.400 --> 00:04:01.400 as the set of rules to point us to the fact that we cannot save ourselves, that there is no salvation in the law. 56 00:04:01.400 --> 00:04:06.400 Now you, now check this out, nowhere in the Bible can you find in the Old Testament that God says, 57 00:04:06.400 --> 00:04:11.400 you'll be saved, you'll experience eternal life if you keep these 10 commandments. 58 00:04:11.400 --> 00:04:12.400 He doesn't say that. 59 00:04:12.400 --> 00:04:18.400 In fact, what he does say is that in the day that you break my law, you need blood. 60 00:04:18.400 --> 00:04:20.400 You need a blood sacrifice. 61 00:04:20.400 --> 00:04:23.400 And so that's why this is so incredibly important. 62 00:04:23.400 --> 00:04:27.400 Your walk with God cannot be based upon rules and regulations. 63 00:04:27.400 --> 00:04:32.400 It's got to be based upon a personal experience with Jesus Christ. 64 00:04:32.400 --> 00:04:33.400 Why Jesus? 65 00:04:33.400 --> 00:04:43.400 Because he is the one whom God promised in the Old Testament, and it's Jesus, what he did at the cross, 66 00:04:43.400 --> 00:04:53.400 and it's what he did by leaving us an empty tomb in Jerusalem, that new covenant is the covenant that Jeremiah was talking about. 67 00:04:53.400 --> 00:04:56.400 God says, I'm not going to honor any longer the old covenant. 68 00:04:56.400 --> 00:04:58.400 Why? Because it's written on stone. 69 00:04:58.400 --> 00:04:59.400 It doesn't save you. 70 00:04:59.400 --> 00:05:01.400 It only convicts you. 71 00:05:01.400 --> 00:05:12.400 I'm going to do a work in you that is not on stone, but it's going to be written in your minds, and it's going to be written in your hearts. 72 00:05:12.400 --> 00:05:23.400 To me, that's an awesome declaration as to why you and I should draw near immediately to Jesus in and through the Old and New Testaments. 73 00:05:23.400 --> 00:05:24.400 Why? 74 00:05:24.400 --> 00:05:27.400 The Old Testament tells you he's coming. 75 00:05:27.400 --> 00:05:30.400 Abraham told us the Messiah is coming. 76 00:05:30.400 --> 00:05:41.400 Abraham lived it out on Mount Mariah with Isaac, and going through the entire sacrifice where Abraham lives his dagger to slay Isaac believing 77 00:05:41.400 --> 00:05:50.400 that even if I kill him, God promised that he would raise up salvation, the Messiah from my DNA. 78 00:05:50.400 --> 00:05:52.400 This is my only boy. 79 00:05:52.400 --> 00:05:55.400 So even if I kill him, God's going to raise him from the dead. 80 00:05:55.400 --> 00:06:08.400 That's why Abraham's faith is so commendable is because he obeyed God in the face of impossibilities knowing that God must have a plan that even if I offer my son, God's going to raise him up. 81 00:06:08.400 --> 00:06:09.400 That's huge. 82 00:06:09.400 --> 00:06:20.400 Well, listen, God sacrificed his son on the same Mount Mariah that Isaac was offered up on, but this time Jesus died. 83 00:06:20.400 --> 00:06:23.400 He died a real death in the flesh. 84 00:06:23.400 --> 00:06:30.400 His body died there on the cross for your sins in mind, and on the third day he rose again from the dead. 85 00:06:30.400 --> 00:06:38.400 This is absolutely awesome because the Bible tells us for all of us who call upon the name of the Lord, we shall be saved. 86 00:06:38.400 --> 00:06:45.400 The Bible also tells us that if we repent of our sins and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, we shall be saved. 87 00:06:45.400 --> 00:06:52.400 So it's not any of you, any of us, doing anything to earn God's salvation. 88 00:06:52.400 --> 00:06:54.400 It's looking to him. 89 00:06:54.400 --> 00:07:00.400 You know, the first sermon that Charles Spurgeon ever preached, I think he was 16 years old, shortly after he got saved. 90 00:07:00.400 --> 00:07:07.400 He preached a sermon out of Isaiah and it was, look unto me and be saved. 91 00:07:07.400 --> 00:07:11.400 And he stressed the challenge, look unto me. 92 00:07:11.400 --> 00:07:14.400 Look, Spurgeon said, anyone can look. 93 00:07:14.400 --> 00:07:16.400 It's available to anyone. 94 00:07:16.400 --> 00:07:20.400 All of us have the option to look, but will you look? 95 00:07:20.400 --> 00:07:29.400 If you're focused on the stone and the law and the legalism, that can be the trappings of religion? 96 00:07:29.400 --> 00:07:35.400 Listen, you can't look because your heart is so burdened, your head is down. 97 00:07:35.400 --> 00:07:41.400 I mean, you're bummed, you're carrying a load that you were never supposed to carry. 98 00:07:41.400 --> 00:07:49.400 Jesus comes along and announces, basically I'm paraphrasing this, Matthew 11. 99 00:07:49.400 --> 00:07:56.400 My load and the weight that I put upon you, if you follow me, it's easy and it's light. 100 00:07:56.400 --> 00:07:59.400 It's not burdensome. 101 00:07:59.400 --> 00:08:00.400 What is he saying? 102 00:08:00.400 --> 00:08:03.400 Look, look to me. 103 00:08:03.400 --> 00:08:12.400 And when you look to him and you understand that his salvation is written in such a way that it is embossed upon your heart, 104 00:08:13.400 --> 00:08:21.400 then what happens is God, the Holy Spirit, does the work of saving you and the work of discipling you 105 00:08:21.400 --> 00:08:27.400 and the work of growing you up in such a way that God does it all. 106 00:08:27.400 --> 00:08:29.400 You cooperate. 107 00:08:29.400 --> 00:08:37.400 Listen, friend, what you and I are to be doing is cooperating with God in what he wants to do. 108 00:08:37.400 --> 00:08:39.400 We need to cooperate. 109 00:08:39.400 --> 00:08:40.400 Agree with him. 110 00:08:40.400 --> 00:08:41.400 You know what? 111 00:08:41.400 --> 00:08:43.400 The technical word is obey him. 112 00:08:43.400 --> 00:08:48.400 If we just obey him, there's so much liberty and freedom in all of that. 113 00:08:48.400 --> 00:08:54.400 So what is so important about experiencing no pun intended, but it's why we named our programming this, 114 00:08:54.400 --> 00:09:04.400 real life, is that real life is not found in some sort of religious routine that you practice every day 115 00:09:04.400 --> 00:09:08.400 and you do the prayer and you do the reading and you do the thing. 116 00:09:08.400 --> 00:09:10.400 And this is how it is. 117 00:09:10.400 --> 00:09:14.400 And I just put in or pay my dues. 118 00:09:14.400 --> 00:09:16.400 And that's it. 119 00:09:16.400 --> 00:09:18.400 Friends, no way. 120 00:09:18.400 --> 00:09:25.400 In fact, I am so glad that the world that you and I are living in right now is disgusted with religion. 121 00:09:25.400 --> 00:09:27.400 Don't be offended by that. 122 00:09:27.400 --> 00:09:29.400 Don't get upset about that. 123 00:09:29.400 --> 00:09:33.400 The fact is, we should be disgusted with man-made religion. 124 00:09:33.400 --> 00:09:42.400 What we need to do is get all excited about what God invites us to experience and that is personal relationship. 125 00:09:42.400 --> 00:09:53.400 I think we all need a repent, actually, of having so much fun and so much activity with the friends and family that we know. 126 00:09:53.400 --> 00:09:59.400 And we never afford God to have that same relationship with us. 127 00:09:59.400 --> 00:10:07.400 So listen, at the time of us getting together right now, the Super Bulls coming up, a friend of mine texting me the other night, 128 00:10:07.400 --> 00:10:09.400 hey, come on over. 129 00:10:09.400 --> 00:10:14.400 We're going to have a great, great time and I had a text in back saying I'm going to be traveling that day. 130 00:10:14.400 --> 00:10:16.400 It's not going to work. Sorry. 131 00:10:16.400 --> 00:10:18.400 And he gave me a little sad face. 132 00:10:18.400 --> 00:10:21.400 Why? Because we're not able to get together. 133 00:10:21.400 --> 00:10:23.400 But it's normal to get together. 134 00:10:23.400 --> 00:10:25.400 It's normal to fellowship. 135 00:10:25.400 --> 00:10:30.400 It's normal to even be as Christians to watch a Super Bull game together. 136 00:10:30.400 --> 00:10:31.400 We love this stuff. 137 00:10:31.400 --> 00:10:32.400 Do we not? 138 00:10:32.400 --> 00:10:35.400 When you go out, of course you can go out by yourself. 139 00:10:35.400 --> 00:10:37.400 But what fun is that? 140 00:10:37.400 --> 00:10:39.400 You go out with your wife or with your husband. 141 00:10:39.400 --> 00:10:42.400 You guys even call friends and say, let's go out. 142 00:10:42.400 --> 00:10:53.400 Why would we enjoy the Coenania, the fellowship of one another and not allow God that same beautiful atmosphere? 143 00:10:53.400 --> 00:10:57.400 Listen, it should be with him first. 144 00:10:57.400 --> 00:11:03.400 So listen, this morning I got up and I was dark and I didn't want to turn any lights on. 145 00:11:03.400 --> 00:11:12.400 So for me personally, I just thought I'd sit with my coffee with God and I had a blank slate and I was listening. 146 00:11:12.400 --> 00:11:16.400 A couple of times I talked to him, waited. 147 00:11:17.400 --> 00:11:24.400 Said a few more things, waited, had a couple of thoughts, had a couple of I think directions from God given to me. 148 00:11:24.400 --> 00:11:33.400 And in a way I actually sat down and had a cup of coffee with God alone in the dark as the sun came up. 149 00:11:33.400 --> 00:11:41.400 And it was interesting because when you wait like that, you wind up becoming very attuned to the simple things. 150 00:11:41.400 --> 00:11:51.400 I began to hear the very first bird of the day in my yard make the first cheap. 151 00:11:51.400 --> 00:11:56.400 I remember hearing it because why I was still, I was waiting, I was listening. 152 00:11:56.400 --> 00:12:00.400 And you know when you're saying God speak to me, God speak to me. 153 00:12:00.400 --> 00:12:06.400 When you hear things that herald the morning, in this case, one bird. 154 00:12:06.400 --> 00:12:12.400 And then it was five birds and then it was 20 birds and then it was a whole, what's the word? 155 00:12:12.400 --> 00:12:14.400 Cocophony, there's a big word for you. 156 00:12:14.400 --> 00:12:18.400 A Cocophony of birds singing the praises of God. 157 00:12:18.400 --> 00:12:22.400 It felt so right to me because I beat them to it. 158 00:12:22.400 --> 00:12:24.400 I got up before they did. 159 00:12:24.400 --> 00:12:27.400 I was talking to the God that made them. 160 00:12:27.400 --> 00:12:31.400 But you know what, I didn't look out my window and see some birds. 161 00:12:31.400 --> 00:12:38.400 All in a line wearing little black bird suits, right, with little black robes. 162 00:12:38.400 --> 00:12:45.400 And some other bird trying to get them in line and just right at the exact same time. 163 00:12:45.400 --> 00:12:48.400 They were free. They were liberated. 164 00:12:48.400 --> 00:12:50.400 They were doing what they were created to do. 165 00:12:50.400 --> 00:12:53.400 Christian, listen, why do we make things so stupid, difficult? 166 00:12:53.400 --> 00:12:54.400 What's wrong with us? 167 00:12:54.400 --> 00:13:00.400 If we just walk with God, then all of a sudden every day is an incredible open opportunity 168 00:13:00.400 --> 00:13:04.400 because we're going to be listening from the start of the day to the end. 169 00:13:04.400 --> 00:13:05.400 What's God saying? 170 00:13:05.400 --> 00:13:07.400 What is God doing? 171 00:13:07.400 --> 00:13:09.400 What's happening now in this thing? 172 00:13:09.400 --> 00:13:16.400 You'll always be in the mindset of what God wants to do through you in that place or at that moment. 173 00:13:16.400 --> 00:13:18.400 It's absolutely liberating. 174 00:13:18.400 --> 00:13:23.400 You won't have to walk around all stressed out, oh my gosh, what's God's will for me today? 175 00:13:23.400 --> 00:13:25.400 Oh, did I pray long enough? 176 00:13:25.400 --> 00:13:27.400 Did I read the right verses? 177 00:13:27.400 --> 00:13:30.400 Did I have a gun to church enough? 178 00:13:30.400 --> 00:13:33.400 Oh my gosh, friends, listen, that's tyranny. 179 00:13:33.400 --> 00:13:35.400 Get away from it. 180 00:13:35.400 --> 00:13:44.400 What you want to make sure is that you have an active living, breathing relationship with the Lord on a continuous basis. 181 00:13:44.400 --> 00:13:45.400 Always. 182 00:13:45.400 --> 00:13:47.400 Frankly, why let it end? 183 00:13:47.400 --> 00:13:55.400 You say, well, Pastor, doesn't my experience with God start when I show up at church and then it ends when we leave the church parking lot? 184 00:13:56.400 --> 00:13:58.400 Nope. 185 00:13:58.400 --> 00:14:01.400 Church is only the place for you to get refilled. 186 00:14:01.400 --> 00:14:04.400 You fuel up your spiritual tank. 187 00:14:04.400 --> 00:14:07.400 You interact with other believers. 188 00:14:07.400 --> 00:14:17.400 And I know at this church, by the way, you're always going to be tested regarding what you're learning because you got to be in the spirit just to get into the parking lot here. 189 00:14:17.400 --> 00:14:20.400 And then you got to be in the spirit leaving. 190 00:14:20.400 --> 00:14:24.400 And that's where a lot of people's faith is tested in the parking lot. 191 00:14:24.400 --> 00:14:27.400 But in all honesty, your faith is tested everywhere. 192 00:14:27.400 --> 00:14:34.400 Why not just embrace the fact that the Lord has, for me, whatever He brings to me today. 193 00:14:34.400 --> 00:14:37.400 And in fact, I want to kind of wrap this up. 194 00:14:37.400 --> 00:14:42.400 I'm going to begin to wrap this up anyway by saying this. 195 00:14:42.400 --> 00:14:57.400 So I stuck with a friend and he and his wife were traveling and there was an appointment with a chauffeur company, not a chauffeur like you think, but you know those black SUVs. 196 00:14:57.400 --> 00:15:01.400 Kind of like an Uber type thing, but this is different. 197 00:15:01.400 --> 00:15:09.400 The company was hired by his company to make sure that he and his wife are picked up at the airport at an exact time. 198 00:15:09.400 --> 00:15:10.400 They got off the plane. 199 00:15:10.400 --> 00:15:12.400 Their flight was delayed two hours. 200 00:15:12.400 --> 00:15:13.400 They get off the plane. 201 00:15:13.400 --> 00:15:14.400 They get to the curb. 202 00:15:14.400 --> 00:15:17.400 They look around and there's nobody. 203 00:15:17.400 --> 00:15:18.400 There's no car. 204 00:15:18.400 --> 00:15:20.400 In fact, there's no police. 205 00:15:20.400 --> 00:15:22.400 There's no other passengers. 206 00:15:22.400 --> 00:15:23.400 There's no buses. 207 00:15:23.400 --> 00:15:24.400 There's no taxi. 208 00:15:24.400 --> 00:15:26.400 There's nobody. 209 00:15:26.400 --> 00:15:31.400 And they looked at each other and they said, I wonder what's going on. 210 00:15:31.400 --> 00:15:34.400 And he said to her, you know, God's got a plan. 211 00:15:34.400 --> 00:15:35.400 We'll see what happens. 212 00:15:35.400 --> 00:15:39.400 So he let his office know there's no driver for us. 213 00:15:39.400 --> 00:15:41.400 Then they looked around and they realized, gosh, you know what? 214 00:15:41.400 --> 00:15:43.400 It's one o'clock in the morning now. 215 00:15:43.400 --> 00:15:44.400 This airport doesn't open up. 216 00:15:44.400 --> 00:15:47.400 There's a small airport in New York, upstate. 217 00:15:47.400 --> 00:15:50.400 This airport doesn't open up until 7 a.m. 218 00:15:50.400 --> 00:15:52.400 But there's two benches right here to sleep on. 219 00:15:52.400 --> 00:15:54.400 There's nobody else sleeping on them. 220 00:15:54.400 --> 00:15:56.400 It's where we're going to sleep. 221 00:15:56.400 --> 00:15:59.400 So they put their carry on luggage and they set them on the bench 222 00:15:59.400 --> 00:16:01.400 and they got ready to bed down. 223 00:16:01.400 --> 00:16:05.400 And a car pulls up and it's the driver who had been terribly delayed. 224 00:16:05.400 --> 00:16:09.400 The guy was apologizing and he thought for sure that they wouldn't be there 225 00:16:09.400 --> 00:16:10.400 but he came anyway. 226 00:16:10.400 --> 00:16:16.400 They got in the car and my friend said, sir, what's your name? 227 00:16:16.400 --> 00:16:17.400 I'll make the name up now. 228 00:16:17.400 --> 00:16:18.400 I don't remember. 229 00:16:18.400 --> 00:16:19.400 Mike. 230 00:16:19.400 --> 00:16:23.400 He said, Mike, there's a plan going on right now. 231 00:16:23.400 --> 00:16:24.400 And he says, there is. 232 00:16:24.400 --> 00:16:28.400 And he said, yep, he goes, we're here to tell you about Jesus Christ. 233 00:16:28.400 --> 00:16:33.400 The guy broke down crying and he said, part of me being late is the fact 234 00:16:33.400 --> 00:16:37.400 that my home has fallen apart and my wife told me today she's leaving me. 235 00:16:37.400 --> 00:16:40.400 My whole day has been absolutely off the rails. 236 00:16:40.400 --> 00:16:44.400 And I asked God to show me a sign if he cared about me. 237 00:16:44.400 --> 00:16:49.400 And my friend said, Mike, I'm here to tell you, God cares about you. 238 00:16:49.400 --> 00:16:54.400 Our flight being delayed, you being the one who picks us up at this curb 239 00:16:54.400 --> 00:16:57.400 is the one that God wants us to speak to. 240 00:16:57.400 --> 00:17:02.400 Mike, listen, and my friend gave him the gospel, exchange phone numbers, 241 00:17:02.400 --> 00:17:07.400 and the guy committed his life to Christ before they got to the hotel. 242 00:17:07.400 --> 00:17:09.400 That's the way you live your life. 243 00:17:09.400 --> 00:17:15.400 That's the reason why we should not panic in any way shape our form. 244 00:17:16.400 --> 00:17:22.400 So listen, you guys can really help us out on this podcast by really 245 00:17:22.400 --> 00:17:24.400 making sure that you share this with others. 246 00:17:24.400 --> 00:17:27.400 If you would write us a review, that would be really great. 247 00:17:27.400 --> 00:17:29.400 A nice one.
