Yeah, with Christ. 17 00:01:30.000 --> 00:01:35.000 That's us. People don't expect anything good to come from this place. 18 00:01:35.000 --> 00:01:43.000 What if the church cut so no pun intended? Peter said that we need to have hot 19 00:01:43.000 --> 00:01:49.000 hearts, fervent hearts, hearts ablaze, hearts on fire. The hills have been ravaged by 20 00:01:49.000 --> 00:01:53.000 fire. But listen, the people have not yet been ravaged by the love of Christ. 21 00:01:53.000 --> 00:01:58.000 That's going to come through us. However, means we participate. 22 00:01:58.000 --> 00:02:04.000 However, God would have us be involved. What does Christian love for God look like? 23 00:02:04.000 --> 00:02:08.000 It looks like this if we love the Lord. We edify one another. It's foundational to the word root, to the word edifice. 25 00:02:14.000 --> 00:02:21.000 You know, edifice is the nice, beautiful ornate entryway of this building, the 26 00:02:21.000 --> 00:02:28.000 edifice, the grandeur of it. Listen, we're to edify one another. 27 00:02:28.000 --> 00:02:36.000 I am to elevate you and so to speak, edify you to the point that as I lift you 28 00:02:36.000 --> 00:02:39.000 up, you're closer to heaven. She's all lit up. She looks great. 41 00:03:51.000 --> 00:03:55.000 Listen, we are to be the people dressed in black. 42 00:03:56.000 --> 00:04:00.000 To the neighbor that's next to us, there to be the ballerina. 43 00:04:00.000 --> 00:04:06.000 Where to lift them up? Where to do that? And we do that with words. 44 00:04:06.000 --> 00:04:09.000 You know what? Have you ever been bit by a dog? 45 00:04:09.000 --> 00:04:13.000 Don't do it. Do not get bit by a dog. I don't understand it. 46 00:04:13.000 --> 00:04:16.000 I got bit by a dog. He didn't even draw any blood. 47 00:04:16.000 --> 00:04:22.000 My bone on my forearm was sore for three weeks. 48 00:04:22.000 --> 00:04:25.000 I don't understand how that works. He didn't even break my skin. 49 00:04:25.000 --> 00:04:28.000 He just went. 50 00:04:28.000 --> 00:04:32.000 And it hurts so much. 51 00:04:32.000 --> 00:04:36.000 A bite. Do you know what's worse than a bite? 52 00:04:36.000 --> 00:04:38.000 A word. 53 00:04:38.000 --> 00:04:44.000 In three weeks, my bones were fine. 54 00:04:44.000 --> 00:04:49.000 When we do not edify, and we say things that destroy our husband or our 55 00:04:49.000 --> 00:04:55.000 wife or our children or our parents or one another, we're tearing people down. 56 00:04:55.000 --> 00:05:02.000 And Jesus is not in that. 57 00:05:02.000 --> 00:05:07.000 The Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5.9, for God did not appoint us to wrath, 58 00:05:07.000 --> 00:05:10.000 but to attain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ who died for us. 59 00:05:10.000 --> 00:05:15.000 And whether we wake or sleep, live or die, we should live together with him. 60 00:05:15.000 --> 00:05:21.000 Therefore comfort each other and edify one another just as you also are doing. 61 00:05:21.000 --> 00:05:24.000 Isn't that beautiful? Isn't that powerful? 62 00:05:24.000 --> 00:05:26.000 And then number five is this church. 63 00:05:26.000 --> 00:05:28.000 It's the fifth argument, verses six through eight. 64 00:05:28.000 --> 00:05:31.000 And that is, so give God your all. 65 00:05:31.000 --> 00:05:33.000 After love, what's next? 66 00:05:33.000 --> 00:05:35.000 Number five is give God your all. 67 00:05:35.000 --> 00:05:39.000 And we see in verse six that it's, listen, discovering what's been given. 68 00:05:39.000 --> 00:05:41.000 That's what verse six says. 69 00:05:41.000 --> 00:05:46.000 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us. 70 00:05:46.000 --> 00:05:49.000 Let us use them if prophecy. 71 00:05:49.000 --> 00:05:53.000 Let us prophesy in proportion to our faith. 72 00:05:53.000 --> 00:05:55.000 The word proportion, this is a very important word. 73 00:05:55.000 --> 00:06:01.000 It precedes all the gifts of the Holy Spirit in its application. 74 00:06:01.000 --> 00:06:07.000 I want you to check out this word, proportion. 75 00:06:07.000 --> 00:06:10.000 To be in balance. 76 00:06:10.000 --> 00:06:14.000 That's a rarity in our world right now, isn't it? 79 00:06:21.000 --> 00:06:28.000 From this corner of the sanctuary to this corner of the sanctuary from front to back, 80 00:06:28.000 --> 00:06:36.000 it is the will of Almighty God that we all be listening to him to find out what he has given us as a gift 81 00:06:36.000 --> 00:06:40.000 so that this church would be balanced. 82 00:06:40.000 --> 00:06:43.000 Not lopsided. 83 00:06:43.000 --> 00:06:51.000 It means to be in continuity with, to operate within the set limits and predetermined scope. 84 00:06:51.000 --> 00:06:54.000 In other words, God knows what he's doing. 85 00:06:54.000 --> 00:06:57.000 To be in symphony or equilibrium. 86 00:06:57.000 --> 00:07:00.000 To be in the state of uniformity toward a specific cause. 87 00:07:00.000 --> 00:07:04.000 I love this specific cause or outcome. 88 00:07:04.000 --> 00:07:07.000 Like a team or a unit. 89 00:07:07.000 --> 00:07:09.000 We're to be working together. 90 00:07:09.000 --> 00:07:12.000 Listen, in our jobs, even in our families. 91 00:07:12.000 --> 00:07:15.000 Isn't it tough when someone's not a team player?
