It's a 25 00:02:37.640 --> 00:02:43.260 glorious thing. It says in verse two, for if Abraham was justified by works, he 26 00:02:43.260 --> 00:02:51.000 has something to post about. Isn't that a great line? The word justified means, and 27 00:02:51.000 --> 00:02:54.600 you already know this, it means to be shown to be righteous. Notice that. 28 00:02:54.600 --> 00:03:01.560 Shown to be righteous. That's very key that word meaning why? Because if you ask 29 00:03:01.560 --> 00:03:07.600 Abraham, are you righteous? Let me ask you. In fact, the answer is, we could go back 30 00:03:07.600 --> 00:03:16.600 in time and ask Abraham or we can ask ourselves. Yes, positionally in Christ, I'm righteous. God has 35 00:03:41.840 --> 00:03:52.840 declared me righteous. Now if you walk with me, you'll find out that I'm not 36 00:03:52.840 --> 00:04:03.840 situationally always righteous. I went 10 miles over the speed limit. That is 37 00:04:04.840 --> 00:04:15.840 situationally, unrighteous. Is it not? God's grace in this world looks down upon 38 00:04:15.840 --> 00:04:20.840 you and hallelujah, the Bible says to the believer, the Father looks upon us and 39 00:04:20.840 --> 00:04:28.840 pities us as a Father pities his child. Now to those who are not Christians, let's be honest. 40 00:04:28.840 --> 00:04:33.840 The Bible says he's angry with the wicked every day. What is inside you? Abraham 41 00:04:33.840 --> 00:04:42.840 would say, listen, I love God. He came into my life. He called me out of my old 42 00:04:42.840 --> 00:04:57.840 life in my old world. But I fail. But he declared me righteous. I'm so unworthy. 43 00:04:57.840 --> 00:05:04.840 You know, I just got busted a bemelec. It made me feel like such a fool because 44 00:05:04.840 --> 00:05:10.840 he caught me in line about Sarah. I told him that she was my sister because she's so 45 00:05:10.840 --> 00:05:17.840 cute. I thought he'd kill me to have her as a wife. So I lighted and I said, it 46 00:05:17.840 --> 00:05:23.840 is my sister. I talk about throwing your wife under the bus. Abraham, this is 47 00:05:23.840 --> 00:05:33.840 a great Abraham. Are you with me? That did not please God. Excuse me, Abraham. 48 00:05:33.840 --> 00:05:40.840 I thought you were righteous. Oh, Jack, God declared me righteous. I believe in him. 49 00:05:40.840 --> 00:05:50.840 He declared me righteous. It's the flesh I struggle with. I did that thing to benefit 50 00:05:50.840 --> 00:05:56.840 myself and it makes me so sick to my stomach, Jack. I wish it never would have 51 00:05:56.840 --> 00:06:06.840 happened, especially Sarah. I haven't heard the end of that. Can you relate to that 52 00:06:06.840 --> 00:06:14.840 church? You know, a lot of people freak out because Peter echoes the Old Testament 53 00:06:14.840 --> 00:06:21.840 doctrine, be perfect for I, your father is perfect. So oh my goodness, that's it. 54 00:06:21.840 --> 00:06:30.840 No, listen, the meaning is God's perfect. You're my child. So go now. Be perfect. 55 00:06:30.840 --> 00:06:42.840 And when you trip, get up and pick it up. Continue on. We really want to be 56 00:06:42.840 --> 00:06:47.840 righteous. We really want to do perfectly. Thank God, there's a day coming when you 57 00:06:47.840 --> 00:06:52.840 and I die when that prayer will be answered. You know, if we had the physical 58 00:06:52.840 --> 00:06:57.840 ability as a believer, it should probably be like this for the death of a 59 00:06:57.840 --> 00:07:01.840 believer, like the Puritans. The Puritans would gather around when someone was 60 00:07:01.840 --> 00:07:05.840 dying. Did you know that in England and in colonial America, when somebody was 61 00:07:05.840 --> 00:07:11.840 dying, all the many members gathered around, the other lay members and other 62 00:07:11.840 --> 00:07:15.840 pastors would gather around. And you can read books. There's books. It's the 63 00:07:15.840 --> 00:07:19.840 last words of great saints. You can read their last words and they wrote them 64 00:07:19.840 --> 00:07:25.840 down. There was no medication on those days. So you were not loopy or out for months 65 00:07:25.840 --> 00:07:32.840 or weeks or days. And they recorded their last words. And when you read those, 66 00:07:32.840 --> 00:07:38.840 it's amazing. But you could tell their bodies, some, the accounts of these things. 67 00:07:38.840 --> 00:07:42.840 And you can read also in the fox's book of martyrs while people are being 68 00:07:42.840 --> 00:07:47.840 slain throughout antiquity for Jesus. I witness accounts where people are 69 00:07:47.840 --> 00:07:50.840 worshiping the Lord while they're being burned at the stake. How does that happen? 70 00:07:50.840 --> 00:07:57.840 It can't happen, but without God. And the point is this, we may be dying of 71 00:07:57.840 --> 00:08:02.840 cancer or we may be perishing because of this matter of the other thing. The 72 00:08:02.840 --> 00:08:06.840 amazing thing about the Christian is that they're limited to express the joy 73 00:08:06.840 --> 00:08:12.840 that's happening to them by their body. They're like this. And they can barely 74 00:08:12.840 --> 00:08:17.840 open their eyes. They can barely speak. But they're making utterances and their 75 00:08:17.840 --> 00:08:21.840 eyes are looking like this. And there's a smile in their face. And they pass 76 00:08:21.840 --> 00:08:26.840 away. Could you imagine? No wonder the Bible says, precious in the 77 00:08:26.840 --> 00:08:31.840 side of the Lord is the death of his saints. Why? Because if we really understood 78 00:08:31.840 --> 00:08:35.840 what was really happened at the moment of death, we were cutting this body 79 00:08:35.840 --> 00:08:40.840 or getting this body cut loose from who we really are. We'd go out going, 80 00:08:40.840 --> 00:08:48.840 woohoo! Yeah, you guys deal with me or what's left of me. I'm out of here to be 81 00:08:48.840 --> 00:08:52.840 absent from the bodies, to be present with the Lord. And the word boast means to glorify, self glorify, self-confidence. 84 00:09:07.840 --> 00:09:11.840 You can't boast. Abraham, Abraham couldn't, and he never walked around saying, 85 00:09:11.840 --> 00:09:18.840 excuse me, everybody, excuse me. You guys all need to know that God called me 86 00:09:18.840 --> 00:09:22.840 out of earth, the Caldys. Galatians 6 is for not even those who are 92 00:09:59.840 --> 00:10:04.840 circumcised to keep the law. You know, that's a statement of fact. 93 00:10:04.840 --> 00:10:12.840 But they desire to have you circumcised that they might boast in your flesh, 94 00:10:12.840 --> 00:10:20.840 or translate it to today. Oh, I want to see this. I hope it shows. 104 00:11:04.840 --> 00:11:09.840 I'm sure we'll see it somehow. There's going to be like a movie theater in heaven. 105 00:11:09.840 --> 00:11:13.840 You can be able to go online and check out. And Jesus says, you hypocrites. 107 00:11:20.840 --> 00:11:28.840 You scribes and Pharisees and leaders of the people. 108 00:11:28.840 --> 00:11:32.840 You're so wicked, but you're not satisfied. 109 00:11:32.840 --> 00:11:39.840 You'll travel land and sea to make a convert to your traditions. 110 00:11:40.840 --> 00:11:47.840 And when you do, you make them twice the child of hell than you are yourselves. 111 00:11:47.840 --> 00:11:51.840 Did you know Jesus said that? I mean, it's not like I'm one of those, you know, 112 00:11:51.840 --> 00:11:59.840 those little daily memorization verses. Be thou encouraged. 113 00:11:59.840 --> 00:12:05.840 But it's awesome moment, isn't it? I mean, that's God speaking to hypocrisy. 114 00:12:05.840 --> 00:12:12.840 Watch out. You cannot boast in your flesh that you're a follower of Jesus 115 00:12:12.840 --> 00:12:18.840 and don't let anybody boast that they've got control over you. 116 00:12:18.840 --> 00:12:24.840 You go and you live directly before God. 117 00:12:24.840 --> 00:12:32.840 And he says in that scripture verse there of Galatians, 118 00:12:32.840 --> 00:12:36.840 but God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, 119 00:12:36.840 --> 00:12:40.840 by whom the world has been crucified to me and I to the world, 120 00:12:40.840 --> 00:12:45.840 for in Christ Jesus neither circumcision or uncircumcision avails anything. 121 00:12:45.840 --> 00:12:50.840 Here it is. But a new creation. A new life. God, listen, 122 00:12:50.840 --> 00:12:55.840 because we can't measure up what God does is He recreates us. 123 00:12:55.840 --> 00:13:00.840 And then we'll end right here in this third point.
