Or in the Greek, it's suke. Suke is the psyche. Sike is the soul. The soul is your 27 00:02:52.560 --> 00:03:00.480 thinking. Listen, the soul is not your spirit. That's different. We have a mind, 29 00:03:09.440 --> 00:03:17.200 we have a spirit that needs to be born again. And we have a body. And when we talk about the soul, 30 00:03:17.200 --> 00:03:23.360 we're talking about the mind, the realm of the mind, and the thinking. What do we think? What do we 31 00:03:23.360 --> 00:03:29.200 think as a culture? What do we think as a society? What do we think as a church? It can often be argued that as the nation thinks 33 00:03:37.360 --> 00:03:44.640 so goes the nation. And what is the nation's preoccupation? You can get the idea of what the nation is thinking about. What are we wearing? What we wear 37 00:04:03.040 --> 00:04:09.440 and what we choose to wear? What's trending is a it's a description of what the soul of the 38 00:04:09.440 --> 00:04:15.680 nation is. And that is certainly true about your family or about yourself or your marriage. 39 00:04:16.960 --> 00:04:23.600 But Paul is going to argue to us that it's an abusive situation that the world is descending 40 00:04:23.600 --> 00:04:31.520 down into and it begins with the mind. And then God says to a generation, I can't put up with this anymore. All along the way 90 00:10:09.440 --> 00:10:15.600 he's gone down pleading. But then he says, I can't go any further. And at that moment humanity 91 00:10:15.600 --> 00:10:21.600 without Christ and the 21st century that you and I live in says this to him. I don't care. I 92 00:10:21.600 --> 00:10:27.600 haven't cared a thing about what you've said this far. I'm still going to go down. See ya. Are we experiencing them by watching someone else that you and I know? 101 00:11:35.440 --> 00:11:40.160 From Genesis to Revelation, the wrath of God is revealed in five different categories. 102 00:11:41.280 --> 00:11:46.320 And one would be cataclysmic wrath. Can you write that down? When we talk about God's wrath being 103 00:11:46.320 --> 00:11:52.000 poured out, what does that mean? And when he says I've given you up, given you up to what? Number one, 104 00:11:52.640 --> 00:11:59.600 we'll give you up to cataclysmic wrath. These are judgments or judgment events of either nature or 105 00:11:59.600 --> 00:12:07.040 man, which causes suffering. In other words, and this is hard for us to imagine, but I pray that we'll 106 00:12:07.040 --> 00:12:13.680 get a glimpse of this. According to the Bible, God keeps you and I right now out of circumstantial wrath 107 00:12:13.680 --> 00:12:20.480 by his sheer pleasure and his mercy right now. Because Romans 118 says the wrath of God is revealed, 108 00:12:20.480 --> 00:12:25.680 you guys remember in our previous study, it's the atmosphere is charged with things 109 00:12:26.800 --> 00:12:31.920 invisible to destroy us. The reason why we're not destroyed is because God is shielding us from being 110 00:12:31.920 --> 00:12:37.360 destroyed. It doesn't matter if you're the sweetest person on the planet or you're the 111 00:12:37.360 --> 00:12:42.960 meanest person on the planet. If you are not suffering right now by either nature or man, 112 00:12:44.080 --> 00:12:49.920 you're comforted right now by the sheer goodness of God. I don't believe in God. You are being comfort 113 00:12:49.920 --> 00:13:00.320 by the sheer goodness of God. And a cataclysmic wrath is this when God moves his hand away. So imagine 114 00:13:01.360 --> 00:13:10.000 an umbrella being moved away and the rain, the hail, or the heat hits you. Watch, they're going down the steps, going down the 134 00:15:22.880 --> 00:15:30.320 steps, going down the steps. And at some point, thank God, thank God. Because what kind of a pastor would talk about this 142 00:16:12.720 --> 00:16:17.360 stuff today? Nobody wants to hear this stuff, but we've got to hear this. This is throughout the Bible. There are judgment events that come upon 145 00:16:34.320 --> 00:16:42.640 a nation or nations who forget God or neglect God or refuse God. Because America has been the most 146 00:16:42.640 --> 00:16:47.680 predominant Christian nation in all of human history. I believe that the condition America is in 147 00:16:47.680 --> 00:16:55.120 right now is ethnological judgment of God. This is the wrath of God coming upon America. It has 148 00:16:55.120 --> 00:17:01.760 started some time ago. Who am I? I have no authority to say that it started when, but I would think 149 00:17:01.840 --> 00:17:10.240 I think it's been going on for decades and it's intensifying. As a nation, we treat God horrible. 150 00:17:10.240 --> 00:17:17.040 As a nation, we erode to Him. We attack Him. We evict Him. We mock Him. 151 00:17:20.000 --> 00:17:25.680 And I think this nation at this moment, and I think now we're starting to see what you and I feel 152 00:17:25.680 --> 00:17:36.240 and see is now the visible manifestation of ethnological wrath where our nation is going down 153 00:17:36.240 --> 00:17:39.920 horrific paths and see what does that mean? What does that mean? Well, according to the Bible, 154 00:17:39.920 --> 00:17:47.200 it means that a nation or nations will attack us. It means also we know from history in the Bible, 155 00:17:48.000 --> 00:17:54.480 economies will fail. There'll be things where God moves his hand of protection due to 156 00:17:54.480 --> 00:17:59.840 around him. Chapter 28, God says, if a nation seeks after me, I will protect them from enemies. 157 00:17:59.840 --> 00:18:06.080 I will cause their crops to flourish and their women will give birth. But if a nation rejects me, 158 00:18:06.080 --> 00:18:12.000 he says, they will be captured by enemy forces. Their economy, their crops will fail and their 159 00:18:12.000 --> 00:18:19.360 women will wholesale. He said wholesale be unable to bear a child. They will miscarry. Deuteronomy, Chapter 28, read it later. Nationally. And then finally, there's individual wrath, 162 00:18:34.400 --> 00:18:40.880 individual. Where you do something dumb and God's hand of protection is off.
