He was scorched. 157 00:07:15.000 --> 00:07:18.000 He was taken up to the mountain. 158 00:07:19.000 --> 00:07:21.000 He was crucified. 159 00:07:21.000 --> 00:07:24.000 I want to actually talk about the two other crosses 160 00:07:24.000 --> 00:07:28.000 because I think a lot of us have heard the story of Jesus' cross. 161 00:07:28.000 --> 00:07:31.000 But we haven't heard the story of the two other crosses 162 00:07:31.000 --> 00:07:34.000 that were with Jesus when he was being crucified. 163 00:07:34.000 --> 00:07:37.000 These two other crosses were two men. 164 00:07:37.000 --> 00:07:39.000 There were two men who the Bible calls criminals. 165 00:07:39.000 --> 00:07:40.000 They were robbers. 166 00:07:40.000 --> 00:07:41.000 They were thieves. 167 00:07:41.000 --> 00:07:44.000 You know, one thing I realize about life 168 00:07:44.000 --> 00:07:47.000 is that life is the great equalizer. 169 00:07:47.000 --> 00:07:48.000 I don't care where you come from. 170 00:07:48.000 --> 00:07:50.000 I don't care what you do. 171 00:07:50.000 --> 00:07:53.000 You're going to go through what other people have gone through in life. 172 00:07:53.000 --> 00:07:55.000 I know you're upbringing maybe different. 173 00:07:55.000 --> 00:07:56.000 I know your family may be different. 174 00:07:56.000 --> 00:07:58.000 I know maybe you weren't even born here, 175 00:07:58.000 --> 00:08:00.000 but life is a great equalizer 176 00:08:00.000 --> 00:08:02.000 and that it's a lot of the times 177 00:08:02.000 --> 00:08:04.000 at the end brings us to the same place. 178 00:08:04.000 --> 00:08:05.000 Death. 179 00:08:08.000 --> 00:08:10.000 I don't care how much money you have. 180 00:08:10.000 --> 00:08:13.000 You will die. 181 00:08:13.000 --> 00:08:15.000 Amen. 182 00:08:15.000 --> 00:08:17.000 I don't care how poor you are. 183 00:08:17.000 --> 00:08:19.000 You will die. 184 00:08:19.000 --> 00:08:21.000 Life is just great equalizer 185 00:08:21.000 --> 00:08:24.000 where it brings everyone to the same place. 186 00:08:24.000 --> 00:08:27.000 It may take a little longer for one person to get there 187 00:08:27.000 --> 00:08:29.000 than another person to get there. 188 00:08:29.000 --> 00:08:31.000 But you end up in the same place. 189 00:08:31.000 --> 00:08:32.000 So there's these two men. 190 00:08:32.000 --> 00:08:34.000 And I don't know how they end up thieves. 191 00:08:34.000 --> 00:08:36.000 I don't know how they end up robbers. 192 00:08:36.000 --> 00:08:38.000 I don't know how they end up with this severe punishment 193 00:08:38.000 --> 00:08:39.000 of crucifixion. 194 00:08:39.000 --> 00:08:41.000 But they must have done something wrong. 195 00:08:41.000 --> 00:08:43.000 They must have done something illegal. 196 00:08:43.000 --> 00:08:45.000 They've brought them to this place of crime. 197 00:08:45.000 --> 00:08:48.000 Life has brought them to a place of them being accused. 198 00:08:48.000 --> 00:08:49.000 And guess what? 199 00:08:49.000 --> 00:08:52.000 They're going through this process with each other 200 00:08:52.000 --> 00:08:53.000 and with Jesus. 201 00:08:53.000 --> 00:08:56.000 You see, these men had the privilege, 202 00:08:56.000 --> 00:09:00.000 if I can call it, to see Jesus being scorched. 203 00:09:00.000 --> 00:09:03.000 Jesus crucified a crown of thorns on his head. 204 00:09:03.000 --> 00:09:07.000 They had this encounter where they saw all of this. 205 00:09:07.000 --> 00:09:09.000 They had an encounter where they saw Jesus saying, 206 00:09:09.000 --> 00:09:11.000 Father, forgive them for they know not what they do. 207 00:09:11.000 --> 00:09:16.000 They were able to see the Roman soldiers trying to give Jesus 208 00:09:16.000 --> 00:09:20.000 an ascended wine, this vinegar and wine mixture 209 00:09:20.000 --> 00:09:22.000 so that the pain wouldn't be as severe. 210 00:09:22.000 --> 00:09:24.000 And Jesus saying, no, it's okay. 211 00:09:24.000 --> 00:09:26.000 I'm willing to take all of the beatings. 212 00:09:26.000 --> 00:09:28.000 I'm willing to take all of the pain. 213 00:09:28.000 --> 00:09:32.000 I'm willing to take all of it so that my people could have redemption. 214 00:09:32.000 --> 00:09:34.000 You see, Jesus didn't even take a short cut 215 00:09:34.000 --> 00:09:36.000 when it came to your salvation. 216 00:09:36.000 --> 00:09:38.000 He didn't take the easy way out. 217 00:09:38.000 --> 00:09:40.000 When it came to giving you eternal life, 218 00:09:40.000 --> 00:09:43.000 I'm so glad he suffered so that I can live. 219 00:09:43.000 --> 00:09:46.000 I'm so glad he suffered so I could be healed. 220 00:09:46.000 --> 00:09:49.000 I'm so glad he suffered so I don't have to be depressed. 221 00:09:49.000 --> 00:09:53.000 I'm so glad he suffered so that I don't have to be down and out. 222 00:09:53.000 --> 00:09:57.000 I'm glad that I serve a God who went through the process 223 00:09:57.000 --> 00:10:01.000 of the cross to give me eternal life. 224 00:10:02.000 --> 00:10:03.000 Woo! 225 00:10:08.000 --> 00:10:13.000 I'm looking at this story and there's two men. 226 00:10:13.000 --> 00:10:18.000 When I say life's the great equalizer, 227 00:10:18.000 --> 00:10:20.000 I really mean it. 228 00:10:20.000 --> 00:10:24.000 We're all on the equal playing field. 229 00:10:24.000 --> 00:10:26.000 Because we all end up in a place in life 230 00:10:26.000 --> 00:10:30.000 where we're lost, depraved, hopeless, no life. 231 00:10:31.000 --> 00:10:34.000 These men ended up in the same place, crucified. 232 00:10:34.000 --> 00:10:37.000 On one side, there was one thief. 233 00:10:37.000 --> 00:10:40.000 In the middle was Jesus. 234 00:10:40.000 --> 00:10:44.000 And on the other side was another thief. 235 00:10:44.000 --> 00:10:45.000 And life had brought them there. 236 00:10:45.000 --> 00:10:47.000 But can I tell you something? 237 00:10:47.000 --> 00:10:55.000 Even though these two men were being crucified 238 one of a future and a hope 272 00:12:35.000 --> 00:12:39.000 and not one of being depressed and feeling like they're hopeless. 273 00:12:39.000 --> 00:12:41.000 It's because they have Jesus. 274 looking like, I don't feel like I have a future. 277 00:12:47.000 --> 00:12:48.000 I don't feel like I'm good enough. 278 00:12:48.000 --> 00:12:50.000 I don't feel like I'm ever going to get out of
